JUST NOW: "I like taking the guns early," President Trump says. "Take the guns first, go through due process second."

This whole meeting a dog and pony show...MAGA is just playing the bi-partisan game.

I think some sort of gun restraining order is worth looking into.

Love that you try to make this a big deal though.

He's in a bipartisan meeting on guns and school safety. He was talking about the Parkland shooter.

Really? Would you respond any different had Obama said the exact same thing?

Yeah I figured that out, I meant more, in what context is he ok with taking guns before due process? Like in the case of an imminent threat, such as this boy posed?

I actually can get behind a version of this. Good for Trump. I hope he doesn’t crawfish.

When someone says they're gonna shoot up a school on the internet they should have their guns taken away and be arrested. Too bad law enforcement dropped the ball there.

Don't worry... he will come back to hugging guns soon enough. His base will flee like rats from the Titanic if he goes anti-2nd Amendment.

It's not just Trump. It's the same for any politician. That's why they never run on gun control. It's political poison.

When was the last time you saw someone run with gun control as a campaign plank?

Find me a Trump voter who believed Trump was a dyed-in-the-wool gun guy who would always share our beliefs on the 2A, and I’ll find you an idiot.

Really. This is a progressive trying to rile up the masses. Nothing more.

I already said some sort of gun protective order is worthy of discussion. I didn't say I would support it willy nilly. I just think that if done correctly it may be worthwhile. I recognize that we must get the guns from the crazies and deranged without infringing on 2A. That's going to be a tough job for sure.

Seems that if there was a path to take this kids guns that was legal and necessary that we wouldn't be blaming Rex for 17 deaths.

Oh, and screw your whataboutism.

So you are advocating letting this gunman keep his guns despite all the red flags?

Oh, he said it. He told Mike Pence that. MAGA has already stated that he wants them to put everything in one bill and he'll sign it. He also said that he will EO bump stocks immediately. He brought up raising the rifle age to 21 too.

I'll be honest, he's about to piss off his base with the gun control. Dems will still hate him and will always be trying to take him down. This is a bad move for the Pres.

This shooter had actually put a gun to someone’s head and threatened to kill them.
More than once.

That alone should have brought felony assault charges and prevented him from purchasing or owning a firearm.

However, no follow-up, no charges, no felony on record...

For due process to work...well, you have to do the work.

We don’t need another law.
