Let's say Trump is the nominee and wins in 2024. Why would 2028 be DeSantis' time and not the year for whomever (Tim Scott) Trump chooses as VP?

It would have been based on his stature at that time. Trump's VP likely wouldn't have been much of a threat. Trump isn't going to pick a strong VP.

But, it's a moot point now.

Also, if DeSantis is a dem groomer now why wouldn't he be in 2028? What would waiting 4 years change?

He wasn't who we hoped he was. That's the truth.

False. If he can't beat Trump, he is not the guy.

In what world does a “cult” just instantly brush that off like nothing happened and run out to enthusiastically vote en masse for the guy who’s been sort of dishing on them all for the past year?

In the world of "look at the alternatives".

You can’t make your narratives jibe, no matter how hard you try.

But, we haven’t gotten the opportunity to see them face off in a debate, which I still don’t understand why someone like Trump would not have enough confidence in himself to debate someone clearly as “lesser of a candidate” as DeSantis is supposedly. If anything, wouldn’t that nail the coffin shut? Why not go about the business of settling this once and for all, and get everyone on your team?

Waiting for "his turn" would've been a bitch move.

Waiting for his turn is not the same thing as reading the room or being strategic. He was doing neither of those things when he decided to run.

Because if Trump wins in 2024, there is about a 0% chance any GOP candidate can win in 2028.

I don't disagree. What I meant was why wouldn't Trump's VP be the 2028 GOP candidate. It just doesn't make sense for DeSantis to wait if he has ever thought he had a chance to win thee nomination.

I heard he wasn’t as smart as he was being given credit and that his success as a governor was more due to the Florida Legislature passing the right legislation and he rubber stamped it, to his credit.

You should get that checked out if you're hearing voices in your head.

"I hEaRd"...spreading lies like some gossipy old woman. Sad.

Yes, sorry. I misread it. Still sick.

This ties into my 2nd point, too. RDS was NEVER the actual Trump-MAGA successor. You're right, in your scenario that VP would have a leg up on RDS, as Trump would not pick a strong, alpha-type (who is smarter and better at governing than Trump) as his VP.

Same as in 2028 if Trump loses in 2024 (and doesn't run). Trump is going to crown a Kari Lake or whatever sycophant praises him the most leading up to that choice. Again, this won't be a guy like RDS, so MAGA would always turn on him for their chosen savior.

That's the fifth time you've posted this because you can't conjure up an original thought.

Again, not serious people.

Obviously, I disagree but that's fine. Thanks for the honest response. With that said, do you think if he had waited until 2028 that would have been different?

Explain what he should've done and what he would've learned if he, for whatever reason, took your advice.

What did you hope for? He is the "conservative" in this race.

I bet he now wishes he had waited.

Even if something stopped from running, DeSantis has been hurt too badly to step in. I would vote for Vevek.
