I like DeSantis, and prefer his policies and leadership to Trump, but the fact is that he isn't made for the microscope of national politics. No one knew that until he joined the race for the nomination. If he runs again it'll be more of the same.

In all seriousness, why? What makes you think this?

Because it isn't about politics at that level, it's a popularity contest, and he isn't charming. Example: The difference between Bill and Hillary Clinton. Same politics, different people.

I would suggest he might do well to step outside the political realm for a spell.

He comes across as too much a creature of it because he’s never really been anything but. Too many Republican voters have seen the alternative and are rightly weary of going back to pure political lifers. It is what it is, but rain on the downvotes.

heard he wasn’t as smart as he was being given credit and that his success as a governor was more due to the Florida Legislature passing the right legislation and he rubber stamped it, to his credit.

Lmao. Yep totally got into Yale and Harvard law because he just really isn’t that smart.

Jeebus some people on this board should not be allowed to breed, much less vote.

But if something happens to his candidacy you needed someone already in the race to step up.
Yep, but DeSantis seems to be falling behind Haley in that regard.

Losing a primary doesn’t end a political career. There’s a long list of politicians who lost the primary to later become the party’s candidate in the general election.

The list of people who’ve run for President and then later become the party’s candidate in the general election is longer than those who won the primary on the first try.

I think the exact opposite. He doesn’t come across as a politician say like Obama or Lindsay Graham at all. Personally I think he actually might be a tad spectrum, which isn’t an uncommon thing with people who are insanely smart.

I agree with this, but it’s not a refutation of what I’m getting at. I don’t even see Obama as someone who came out of the political realm really. I wasn’t talking about just being a slimy POLITICIAN (the two you named are good examples of those).

Good news for the Democrats. Biden gets a second term. Cult 45 destroyed the GOP.

100% true.

He couldn't resist the lure of money. I can't blame him. Before the primary he was probably worth a couple of hundred thousand. Now he probably worth 5 or so million (with is book deal and and other inducements).

If this were the case, wouldn’t his best bet be to just be utterly transparent about it?

Imagine taking Tim fricking Pool seriously. He's entertainment posing as news and a paid shill for Trump.

Amazing what people will do for $35k.

I don’t think so, but he may not even see it that way. He’s trying to win the “right way” I guess. I’m speaking selfishly for the right. Our only chance is with Trump or Ron.

I'm replying to two different people here but just hit reply on your response.

That's fair. I hate it but fair.

He entered politics 3 years before Trump - 2012 vs 2015.

Prior to politics he worked as an electrician's assistant in college, was a teacher for a while, and was in the military for 8 years. He has a pretty good base outside of the political realm.

Well… he’s 32 years younger than Trump so I’m not sure this point has much value. Lol
