True or false: DeSantis should have waited until 2028

U for yes
D for no
I am in the yes camp. He listened to the WRONG advice. My guess is, someone whispered in his ear that people would abandon Trump in droves with all the legal issues and he would be the natural recipient.
Now, he's sullied his brand and royally pissed off the so-called Trump "cultists" to the point he may never be a viable national candidate again.

I think his chances would have been less in 2028, for obvious reasons.
Sometimes fate and timing just screws people and he's feeling that wrath.

Can’t put all eggs in one basket. More in the primary field the better. Most are running now for future positioning
But it always been trumps to lose. But if something happens to his candidacy you needed someone already in the race to step up.

I don’t think DeSantis has the chops. He will never be POTUS.

You are giving him the benefit of the doubt. I think he knew what he was doing. Sure, he was originally hoping to win...but all along, the objective at its core was to harm Trump for the general.
At first, I was pissed at Desantis for being willing to do that. But, in hindsight, after seeing clearly who Desantis is (a weak, effeminate man who is easily led around by his consultants and wife) I realize that I had an inflated opinion of Desantis. It's easy to understand now how it happened.

I heard he wasn’t as smart as he was being given credit and that his success as a governor was more due to the Florida Legislature passing the right legislation and he rubber stamped it, to his credit.

True.
He was America's favorite governor and his unnecessary attacks on Trump have alienated a huge fan base of his.

I think Ron is hoping that somehow Trump is denied by the courts a chance to run next year and RD will be there to be the defacto Rep. candidate.

Let's say Trump is the nominee and wins in 2024. Why would 2028 be DeSantis' time and not the year for whomever (Tim Scott) Trump chooses as VP?
Also, if DeSantis is a dem groomer now why wouldn't he be in 2028? What would waiting 4 years change?

Bro, DeSantis is an empty suit and had nothing to do with turning Florida deep red. Believe me bro.

In what world does a “cult” just instantly brush that off like nothing happened and run out to enthusiastically vote en masse for the guy who’s been sort of dishing on them all for the past year?

Waiting for "his turn" would've been a bitch move.

The problem I have with all of this is that we are devouring our own, and that doesn’t speak well for us now or in the future IMO.

This stupid shite is why Meatball isn't running away with the nomination already.

Because if Trump wins in 2024, there is about a 0% chance any GOP candidate can win in 2028.
THIS irrationality is the entire basis of this "argument". MAGA really thinks they can win in 2024 and then 2028 (and, 2032, clearly).

That's why the scenario where Trump loses in 2024 doesn't help RDS, either. RDS isn't the chosen MAGA successor, so he'd be literally in the same position (but in likely an even more polar time for MAGA)
