Today's Democrats -- trying to outlaw your gas appliances; good luck with hot water...

... after the hurricane.
Similar to the way their friends in Europe have driven up the cost of everything for their citizens by cutting their own production of fuels....
and then having to buy fuel from Russia.

This is yet another example of why Republicans need to get out to vote Tuesday.

Guess what?
Gas water heaters are about to triple in price bc of laws already in place.
I was told if your water heater breaks go tank less or prepare to pay. And tankless ain't cheap.

Also the benefits of a gas tankless go away with an electric tankless water heater.
A 100,000 btu NG tankless is equal to a 29kW electric tankless water heater.
29kW is larger the the electric load of most houses

Tank water heaters that use gas are very efficient.
It's silly to keep changing them.
I hate that they made changing the thermocouple so hard.

Just bypass it, problem solved.

I never bypass the safety systems. The thermocouple tells the unit the pilot is on.
Bypassed the gas valve can open and fill the areas with unburnt gas

Gas heat was the norm during most of my life (minus safety-cutoffs and I don’t recall anyone in our community getting blown away. We were taught to watch out for leaks.
Same with all these highly problematic Sensors that cost big time.
They should invent a ‘cut-off’ for violent sociopaths who kill a thousand times more people than a hot water heater ever did. Maybe AI will. Indirectly so.
Herding cats seldom pays off as it comes with a heavy price.

WTF you talking about?
Do you have a link?
I’m having my two gas water heaters replaced this next week for what seems a very reasonable price.

Reasonable price ? I had 2 28 year old gas water heaters went out 6 months apart this year and I priced out the first one at 3K for them to replace. I bought it myself at HD and tugged it upstairs to 2nd floor attic and changed out for less than 700.00 for a 50gl tank., same when second one went out. No way was 3K rack reasonable. One of my sons tankless went out and the wanted 6K to replace or 3K if he bought the tank himself (1200.00) which is easier to change than a 50gl attic tank with less disposal.

$1650 each. Bradford White 40 gallons, better than the “comparable”ones you can get from Lowe’s or Home Depot.
Includes all fittings and removal of the old ones from my second story attic.
Would have been $200 cheaper/each if they were in a first floor garage.
Other bids I got were considerably more expensive.

That is good. I'm looking at $1925 ea for two 50 gallons or two Renai tankless for $4500 each.
Debating atm.

Idk. Even 1950s gas valves have thermocouples. The valve can't open unless the thermocouples are hot. It makes a micro voltage signal. Even then still in use 1940s O Keefe and Merits you have Robert Shaw safety valves. I actually can't think of a way to bypass a thermocouple.
They need to be heated. Anyway the two most common fail points on a water heater are the thermocouple and the glass fuse. Most don't know about the latter. Then all heaters that don't get their anodes serviced usually start to rot out.
Anyway getting on topic. Gas tank heaters haven't changed much other than their safety systems. And the access to the flame not being open.

Natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel we have and there is tremendous supply.
Why would this be a good idea?

Why would a tank water heater be going up in price?
If anybody goes tankless, don't put it on an outside wall if you get freezing temps.

Is the shite! Get the big one. Three teenagers and never run out of hot water. Only drawback is they still need electricity to work. I also have a gas Cummins whole house generator that solves that problem.

Yes, they're great. I've had them in two previous houses. Contemplating putting current house on the market...and they're great for resale value.
