Moron apologist for Trump’s lies. He was quoted as saying “We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability.” Direct quote. Has also said “We've beaten and completely decimated Iran.” He has also said, “Tonight, Iran's navy is gone. Their air force is in ruins.” Again direct quote. Yet they can control the Strait. Fascinating.

I thought we had gotten over this nonsense after Trump's first term.

And actually, the overt left seems to have cooled on it this time around. It's the populist right—or rather, the faction of the populist right who still buys into the Jimmy Carter-era foreign policy that Huckster Carlson made popular again—who can't seem to get over it now.

But, dude. It's been over ten years now. If you haven't figured out how Donald Trump communicates yet, I don't know what to tell you.

Yeah, he's always going to claim that whatever he's done is the bestest, biggest, coolest, raddest, most complete thing ever. He'll even say, usually, "Nobody ever did anything like this before, we're the first ones."

He's not speaking literally. He's very obviously hyping. If you're taking him literally after all this time, you're the moron.

Him saying we obliterated Iran's nuclear capability or navy or whatever else is like Gene Simmons instructing the M.C. at KISS shows to still use the, "You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest band in the world...KIIIIIIIIIISSSSSS!" introduction even though KISS hasn't been the hottest band in the world since roughly 1978.

Again, if you don't know this, you're the moron.

I don’t believe a word out of his mouth for obvious reasons. But are you advocating he has a license to disregard the truth and lie to the American public because it’s his m.o.? Seriously? Have we sunk that fricking low.

Part of the MAGA base has definitely sunk that low

Some people know him for the lying con man he is. Some people see it as a positive. Take what you will from that but I don't see it as an admirable trait.

This was tolerated in more benign affairs. Now real Americans are being affected and soldiers are dying.

With the help of the millions of voters who found this same talk from y’all so repugnant, they went on ahead and voted for who they knew y’all wouldn’t vote.

i don't know who you think yall is but I'm not a democrat

You do realize that criticism of an inept president doesn't require one to be a democrat right? Right?

This war really has put a massive damper on this administration. It was a colossal mistake.

You know what else will raise gas prices? Permanent IRGC control of the SOH.
And yet oil prices dropped a ton when the MOU was released. How do you explain that? Maybe a small fee doesn't affect prices all that much...

First of all, I just don't think the examples you're giving are exactly lying. They don't represent the truth—I agree with that. But I don't think the intent is to deceive like it was when, say, Bill Clinton lied about having sex in the WH.

I think the intent is to hype, not deceive.

I think the reason Trump is so effective with dictator-types is because he thinks just like them. Kim Jong Un or Vladimir Putin, for example. Those people live in a culture in which what you say means virtually nothing.

They say outrageous hyped-up shite all the time. Kim Jong Un will say he's going to destroy the United States, has done so repeatedly, as recently as 2024. No one pays it any attention and he doesn't expect them to. In their culture, they expect leaders to say outrageous stuff and no one pays any attention to it...it's what they are willing to do that matters.

Trump gets that, and he thinks that way too.

I don't know what your overall political orientation is, but that tends to really upset liberals because they (you, maybe?) are just the opposite. What matters to them is what people say, not what they do.

I just understand it for what it is. It's propaganda and Trump uses it like Kim Jong Un does.

Do I think it's o.k.? Oh, I would definitely prefer someone who walked softly but carried a big stick. Who didn't say much, but when he did, it mattered.

You don't have to be that experienced in life to know that the guy who talks the loudest is usually the weakest.

But that's a stylistic difference.

Am I concerned that Trump doesn't give accurate information about military operations? Not really. I don't know when you think you've gotten the straight dope on any significant American military operations, but not getting the truth on that is also just something I expect. Was happening long before Trump and will be happening long after, and it's not always a nefarious thing to do.

First of all, there is classified information that is relevant to those ops that you'll never know about. Ever.

They can't say something publicly that reveals that information.

Secondly, maybe we want ISIS or some other terrorist cell to think we blew Iran's nuclear capability to kingdom come last year as part of a deliberate misinformation strategy for audiences other than US citizens.

So no, it doesn't really keep me up at night. (Well, except to type this post).

That much more reason that you are unlikely to get accurate information.

You don't broadcast everything to the world—which includes your enemy—when you are engaged in a war with them.

Wow. Trump said we decimated somebody and yet we didn’t decimate the. He said their navy is gone but there’s still a few bass boats around

We should really impeach him, again, for using words. ?

I haven't followed the back and forth here verbatim but I missed where someone has jumped to wanting to impeach him.

I think it goes without saying that Trump has faced some pretty ridiculous criticisms throughout his presidency and a lot of it should be mocked and ridiculed. But there is grounds for legitimate criticism here and those of you who mock it and cast off what they're criticizing seem to have caught a different variant of TDS.

Trump getting in front of a microphone or on social media and embellishing things like how well he is liked or how well he has done is not the same as when he told people we have decimated Iran. When he says this Bill or this ballroom or whatever is the best ever and people love it, his embellishments dont get exposed by news reports of dead US soldiers, rising interest rates, rising gas prices, and other high costs that directly affect people. That's the difference here. That's why people are calling out the words he used.

Correct. This isn't bitching about 2 scoops of ice cream. It's bitching about him starting a war in the Middle East that doesn't do anything to advance our interests.

How do know what does or doesn’t advance our interests, when it’s crystal clear that none of you know what out interests in that regard even are?

Im sensing another fallback “Israel is the only reason Trump started this war!!”

So you admit then that we have no clear objectives? How could you possibly support such an absurdity?

The response will be something along the lines of keeping Iran from getting nukes. Its a tired line and to believe it you have to ignore:

- that our intelligence showed that they weren't close to getting nukes and that stance was included in a testimony by our DNI to congress just a month before we went to war.

- that countries closer in reach to Iran who have a bigger problem with Muslim radicals invading them than we do took a look at what we were selling and said "nah we're not going to help you alleviate the NUCLEAR threat to us"

- our own government claims to have destroyed their nuclear program just months before

- The incredible timing coincidence with the Epstein files rollout becoming a shite show that was dominating the news cycle, and republican lawmakers were viewing unredacted files and vowing to make their discoveries transparent. Poof. Out of the news cycle once the operation began.

I think it's funny that davy has pivoted to we have to support the war because we don't know what the objectives are.

As if that could possibly be a sign that things are going well

Dude, if you cant just brainstorm a few up, even if you disagree, then you may want to schedule some tests at your doctor. Oh, or y’all could just search the board for any of the countless times various examples and such have been provided. So hell no, nobody should give yall anything else until yall address all the ones previous.

But world politics is different. While the free market shipping of goods (20% oil production) is not an actual make or break for America the restriction of it causes worldwide supply issues which filters through eventually to everything. So in normal times it doesn’t impact but you think this is solely about Iran then that’s your first mistake
