Y'all are misreading this entirely.
The replacement for the drug that was replaced several years ago is considered ineffective. That's probably true. They should put the pseudo back in and take out the phenylephrine.

Few of these OTC meds include just phenylephrine, though. A lot include guaifenesin, which will clear up sinuses and bronchial passageways.

I was pointing out that benadryl or its generic, diphenhydramine, is not on the chopping block. That's the portion that provides allergy relief.

I think it was always an antihistamine. Most over the counter sleep-aids are either diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or doxylamine succinate.

And this statement is based on your vast pharmaceutical expertise? Whenever the FDA appoints 'advisory panels' nothing good for the consumer ever happens. Are they going to put back in the effective ingredient they took out a few years back?!?!

Well, Phenylephrine *is* useless. That's what you buy over the counter without showing an ID. Pseudoephedrine actually works, but you already have to show an ID in every state I've been in to buy it.
That's cool and all to prevent meth production, but when you can ship $$$$$$ worth of Fentanyl through the southern border with no issue, can I just buy my fricking good Sudafed with less hassle?
