I’m just noticing that some (many?) people who want young Americans to go into the trades don’t do trades themselves nor send their children in that direction.

From personal experience he’s as genuine as he comes across. He hitched his boat to the wrong company though.

Even if you're someone who doesn't have to work a trade you should know some basics.
As a handyman that works for realtors, property owners, and investors I'm stunned at how little people know these days. How to reset a breaker, replace lightbulbs.
I can tell pretty fast just by seeing someone hold a hammer, screwdriver, etc.
When I was younger if something broke and I needed it then I better figure out how to repair it.
He seems sincere in his message and I think it's necessary in today's world.

I think he’s one of the good ones. Have seen him speak in person before and he’s clearly passionate about the value of hard work and a dedicated work ethic. I believe he’s sincere. Would love to see more people like him in office.

So what? I work in tech - doesn’t mean everyone should - I’m the only one of my friend group and family that does. It doesn’t mean I don’t value what they do.

Yea he`s an actor getting paid but he really impressed a lot when he actually climbed up that water tower ladder and went to work with the crew in there cleaning it.

He’s got a great message and has a foundation to help people get into the trades.
He correctly points out how schools left the trades behind and were suffering today as a result. Used to be that shop was offered in high school. Liability shut that down.

Mike Rowe is the perfect mix of a college educated person who appreciates and understands how valuable skilled trades are to society. That’s important so he can clearly communicate the need for trades to the “elite” class. He has a foot in both worlds. What’s more, he puts his money where his mouth is.
There needs to be way more citizens with his appreciation and grasp of the truth.
