find it amusing (and more than a little telling) to note the hypocrisy of the phony virtue signalers that fall all over themselves to recognize pride month while completely ignoring military appreciation month

Absolutely correct and I honestly had no idea about military appreciation month but anyone with pulse has heard about Gay Pride month and the countless parades celebrated ad nauseum by big city news organizations and the MSM.

Which shows how out of touch that community is with reality. I could see gay pride events in the Middle East but not here.

First time I've heard of this. It needs to be promoted more. Pride month sure gets its share of pub.

you have a reasoned response here, and I can agree with some of it.

While the OP's meme, however, is flawed by some of your counter-arguments... overall, the message is understood, well-intentioned, and well-done.

Weird how the liberal media is all over pride month but I've never noticed them tout military appreciation month.

Priorities I guess.

This country needs mandatory 2 years of service, across the board.

Partially.

Yet, how morally presumptuous of you to dismiss service to our nation. Please tell me what Pat Tillman garnered for his own economic benefit.

Speaking in "definitives" is poor form imho.

How often is military appreciation month talked about in the media? Do they have 2-3 articles a day about it like pride month? How many mayors and other politicians declare "military appreciation month" and openly celebrate it with their constituents?

As a veteran I don't feel unappreciated just like the gay pride month really doesn't bother me. A month or day doesn't define or represent something.

Context?

I have yet to see "outrage."

A dislike of Tex...maybe, outrage-no.

This is the dumbest post I’ve read on this site.

You are saying if they were drafted they would be more of a hero?

But the man/woman that volunteers to serve knowing they could be killed should not be celebrated?

WTF dude?

The usual suspects on this board. We all know, pretty much, who they are.

It does, but not in the sense that you think.

You are factually correct in your post.

Your take on the meme I have issue with.

The meme is for simpletons imho.

The dialogue based on it isn't defined by the official or unofficial designation of a holiday, but rather that you are a bigot if you don't support both equally. I personally have no issue with Pride month. However, if I own a business, was asked by the LBGTQ community to support an event...and refused, then the possibility of a character assasination may be in my future. If I choose not to support a veterans event...crickets. Why, because most veterans that I know feel that freedom is a core principal. Colin K comes to mind. I was offended by his actions, but defended his right to protest. The LGBTQ community generally would not apply these parameters in my view. You are with their ideology, or you are the enemy. I would imagine that a history of alienation and subjugation drives that thought process. Yet, today...at least to me, the ability to have a Pride month speaks volumes in terms of progress for the acceptance of their ideology. The push back, at least as I see it, is based on the inability of the LBGTQ community to accept the freedom of others with differing beliefs. This has lead to sharpened divisions which has lead to pandering to the lowest common denominator. Hence...this meme.

This meme, imo, is designed to illustrate that difference in it's most simplified way. If that is the case, then it is successful.

FWIW, I don't like the meme.

Just my .02.

The fact that people choose that path only makes them more deserving of respect.

You make a valid point about MAM. Frankly, I doubt that more than 10% of the populace is aware that it exists. They tend to focus instead upon Memorial Day

So, we have two, competing analyses of Gay Pride Month (GPM) vs MAM.

First, which gets more press? I am unaware of any empirical data, but I would not be surprised if I were to learn that GOM has gotten more PRESS in recent years. It is the Flavor of the Month. I would also not be surprised to see that CORPORATE observation of Memorial Day exceeds that of GPM. Seriously, half of the businesses in the country advertise a Memorial Day sale. How many do the same for GPM? For a week beforehand, your newspaper weighs twice as much, due to all the advertising inserts.

But we must also ask ourselves, “Which is observed by more people?” I doubt that anyone could argue with a straight face that Memorial Day is not actively observed by many, many more people than GPM.

Does the amount of “press” really matter, when more people join the observance of the event which garnered LESS “press?”
