tfw you realize that our large standing army is incompatible with the ideals this country was built on

. I would also not be surprised to see that CORPORATE observation of Memorial Day exceeds that of GPM. Seriously, half of the businesses in the country advertise a Memorial Day sale. How many do the same for GPM? For a week beforehand, your newspaper weighs twice as much, due to all the advertising inserts.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by observation. I don't consider advertising sales on a 3 day weekend as observing Memorial Day and showing reverence to our military men and women.

I get that you were just giving an example, but large corporations aren't pushing military appreciation as hard as inclusivity in the workplace from my observations.

Whether we are talking about a Memorial Day sale or a temporary rainbow added to a logo, businesses do it because they think it will enhance their bottom line.

Fair point on the advertising. I added on to my post. Beyond the external advertising to customers, the push on employees is certainly not equivalent. Do you share that observation?

Please. They're part of "oppressed class"...which is the highest honor the MSM and big city press can bestow upon any group and the adoring coverage that goes along with it.

WTF does a Memorial Day mattress sale have to do with this discussion?Itf a freaking Federal holiday and EVERY Federal holiday has multitudes of sales. It has nothing to do which "holiday" or month is celebrated in pop culture.

Does the amount of “press” really matter, when more people join the observance of the event which garnered LESS “press?”

Don't know but how many state Depts around the world flew a Marine,Army or Navy flag honoring MAM at US Embassies?

100%

Again, it is the Flavor of the Month. At the height of the Cold War, I have no doubt that businesses would have placed more emphasis on our military.

It’s difficult to have any respect for a movement represented by a dude wearing an outfit covered with peckers.

Just live your lifestyle and quit begging for attention.

no one has been compelled to serve in 40 uears. So why do people join. For training and benefits - their choice. If they choose to go in I think the current blanket hero worship of all who enlist is overblown.

But the blanket over their decision to serve being purely selfish is cool with you.

I'm sure this won't be popular on here but no soldiers have been drafted in what 40 years.

And I hate to sort of agree with Trump on this, but soldiers who enlist, knew what they were getting into when they signed up.

So they signed up for training while in the service and benefits after they get out after assessing the risk of serving.

I appreciate that they served, but the hero status of anyone who served is, imo, very much overdone.

You are such an unbelievable piece of shite.

do you actually believe that anyone in the gay community picked that picture for that meme?

No, someone on the extreme right selected that picture with a very specific purpose. Much like I might select the following to represent inbred rednecks such as yourself
