I don’t celebrate gay pride month.
I thank every veteran I ever see.

I win.

Anyone have the story on that soldier?

Looks like they're on a beach?

Those represented by the picture on the right will have an eternity in hell for their “pride” if they don’t repent.

Id prefer the one day each Veterans and Memorial, and no day for the other. I hold no animosity toward the LGBTQ community, to each his own, but personally I think one day is gratuitous and unnecessary, much less a month.

May GOD forever bless our brave soldiers and keep them, and their families.

Won't even touch the right half of that meme.

But it's absolutely correct. Look around, what we've become. A reckoning is coming against our country and it won't be pretty.

I'm sure this won't be popular on here but no soldiers have been drafted in what 40 years.

And I hate to sort of agree with Trump on this, but soldiers who enlist, knew what they were getting into when they signed up.

So they signed up for training while in the service and benefits after they get out after assessing the risk of serving.

I appreciate that they served, but the hero status of anyone who served is, imo, very much overdone.

Texrider, you're right that your opinion will be shite on, because it deserves to be shite on. So we should only be grateful to those who were compelled to serve? (Yeah, I know in the end that you threw is a statement that you appreciated their service, but that's not consistent with the rest of your post.)

I guess what I am trying to say is, frick off.

So the guy on the right signed up for public ridicule and doesn't need a protected status.

May is military application month. As a veteran I don't feel unappreciated just like the gay pride month really doesn't bother me. A month or day doesn't define or represent something.

C'mon, let them have their outrage.

Guy on the right would be dead without the guy on the left.

Side question - why does the gay community always revolve around sex? Can you not make your point without dicks on your body?

no one has been compelled to serve in 40 uears. So why do people join. For training and benefits - their choice. If they choose to go in I think the current blanket hero worship of all who enlist is overblown.

Agreed. Upvote.

It's a remnant of guilt from Baby Boomers treating returning Vietnam War soldiers like trash.

Some people join because they think putting their life on the line to uphold the ideals on which the country was founded is worthwhile. Other people, like all the whiners that vote democrat, feel that the country owes them something.

It does, but not in the sense that you think.

First, it shows the ignorance of the author of the meme and anyone who sees this meme as being somehow profound. Our military does not have only “one day.“ It has the entire month of May ... Military Appreciation Month (MAM)

Second, it demonstrates the level of seriousness of each designation. MAM was officially designated by Congress in 1999, NOT by the military itself. Memorial Day (a part of MAM) is actually a legal, national holiday. Government agencies close their doors out of respect for our military/veterans, and MANY Americans are not required to report to work. If you want to mail a package or use your bank on Memorial Day, I wish you luck. To at least that extent, all Americans (330 million people) are REQUIRED to observe the holiday to some degree.

NONE of that is true of Gay Pride Month. It is self-designated by the homosexual community and has ZERO official sanction by the federal government. NO ONE is required to participate. Parade participation has been estimated between a few million and a few tens of millions nationwide, depending upon who you believe. Either way, it is a tiny fraction of those who honor our military during MAM in general or on Memorial Day specifically.

Participation in Gay Pride observations is still comprised primarily of members of the gay community, though an increasing number of straights have begun participation. By contrast, MOST people observing Military Appreciation Month (and Memorial Day) are NOT members of the military OR military veterans. They are ordinary Americans who respect the sacrifices of our military and our veterans.

But, oh goodness, that MEME ...! Never you mind that the entire thing is based upon the false premise of one day versus one month.

This post contains ZERO negative statements about our military. Nonetheless, responses will be overwhelmingly comprised of baseless assertions that I hate the military, which is another false premise. Likewise, they will contain no objective, factual refutation of any point raised in this post, but rather more emotional outbursts.

Countdown ... 3 ... 2 ... 1

Agreed.

But people tend to over-exaggerate stereotypes at these celebrations. Who has not worn a giant green tophat or consumed a disgusting green beer on St.Paddy Day?
