re: This isn’t a great look for the pentagon. They appear to claim Mormons aren’t Christians

Well, there was and is a governing authority in the Catholic Church. Protestants teeth have flown off the gears and we now get what we get with them. Like a preacheress who finds a biblical justification for the sanctity of abortions. Could the Presbyterian Church have shut that down fifty years ago? Yes. Instead they are okay with the heresy or they just form another version of their church, and another and another.
But Catholics have taken care of the sanctity of the Word for a millennia and a quarter century.
My bad. Make that two millennia.

Mormons, jeh witness are both, by definition, cults
Mormons have it, so they don't get a lot of public criticism, at least high profile
My favorite definition, from Robert Altman when someone called him a cult director: "What is a cult? Simply not enough people to make up a minority"
Nothing to do w/religion, but John Frankenheimer said about one of his films: "The Manchurian Candidate went from flop to cult classic w/o ever being a success"

Who cares what Protestants think? Kind of an old version of Antifa.

I was not aware they considred themselves Christian, but what does it really matter in reference to the Department of Defense if they are still a recognized religous group?

If you are going to pretend to be smart enough to craft a cohesive counter narrative, at least pretend to care about facts. Constantine did not make Christianity the state religion, he simply legalized the practice of Christianity as a religion through the Edict of Milan.
70 years later, via the Edict of Thessalonica, a Roman Triumvirate made Christianity the state religion.
OK, but that would never have happened without Constantine converting first, and it does change the point I made.

The Catholic Church does not speak for all "Christians". In fact, some Protestants will say that Catholics are not Christian just like they say Mormons are not Christian.

Do you not know the full name of the Mormon religion?
Here is a hint. It starts out "The Church of Jesus Christ ..."

Wow, shocking you have no idea what a heretic is.
You are really really ignorant.
Like this isn't even funny.
I feel bad for how ignorant you are of how dumb you sound.
There are a fringe group of Protestants that call Catholics all type of names, in spite of both being Nicean Christians.
Even they do not consider Islam and Mormons to be the same as Catholics.
But yes, base your entire idiotic argument on a few nut jobs.
The extremely vast majority of Christians understand their shared faith you would be hard pressed to find any Christians who consider themselves the same as Mormons, and none that accept the Book of Mormon as Scripture.
Too dumb to understand a Venn diagram.
Keep embarrassing yourself.

Welllll they don't believe in the Trinity....and they think Jesus and Satan are brothers. That ain't Christianity.

I understand your Venn diagram quite well. I understand how limited it is. I understand where it comes from.
It comes from your biblical zealotry. You are myopic. You have been propagandized your entire life to believe in one single compilation of scripture, and that all others are flawed.
That is why you cannot grasp the concept of Mormons being Christian in the eyes of the only entity that can make that determination: Jesus himself.

Jesus is too busy building heaven for all of us, so when Mormons show up at the Pearly Gates, I can imagine their snobby, elitist, misogynistic asses get pretty shocked when told, "Uh, well...., we gave you the Bible and actually TOLD YOU what to do and what not to do, like idolizing false prophets and assuming you can rise to become a god, yet, you didn't just fail, you actively worked against God's command while cloaking yourselves in piety. We're going to send you back as a tortoise. Don't worry. Yes, you'll live 120 years, if you're lucky, but you'll have all that time to think about your mistake. Fear not, for it is but a mere blink of the eye in comparison to the eternity in hell that Joseph Smith must endure.

Bye bye."

Very much democratic. Everybody can vote and everyone's vote counts. It is the choice they have during the voting that is the issue.

It’s not orthodox Christianity, but plenty of Christians in the past had similar beliefs.

Like @Narax, you appear to have been indoctrinated since childhood into one specific set of rules. And they might be correct. None of us will know until we actually get there, if such a place actually exists.
But what if Mormon, Judaic, or Islamic theology is correct?
What if none of them are correct?
What if supernatural beings don't exist?
