I think his point, which I agree with, is that the trend seems to be that libertarians are shifting away from the Republican party. This is a big mistake. Instead, the best approach would be an attack on the Republican party from the inside out...ultimately rebuilding the Republican party into what is really should be.
In a perfect world with an even playing field, this could be achieved.
However, this is the real world and that approach is beyond naive (albeit typical of this board).

You want to play the game that they've set up.
By rules they've created to insure that they win.
Just how fricking stupid are you?

I think it is you who is being naive.

All you have to do is look at the significant impact the Tea Party has had on the Republican party over the last 10 years and see that it is very possible. And, that has been a very disjointed, scattered message.

Hell, the democratic party has had a major shift to the left over the last 10 years as well. Change absolutely can happen.

A true libertarian movement within the Republican party that was fiscally based and openly states that social issues are not nearly the priority that the fiscal issues are right now would be VERY well received and could end up becoming the base of the party.

It's the only way that real change can occur. Otherwise, the libertarian movement will be meaningless and ineffective.

Didn't you just admit to working for a national candidate on his campaign?

I bet most folks who post here have never done that. I know I haven't.

Social issues (affirmative action, etc) are huge to me. I don't look at moral issues. Let gays get married, people smoke pot, etc.

9) Electing a libertarian to public office is like electing an atheist for Pope.

Like many that I talked to, we didn't have any grand illusion that the elite would allow Ron Paul anywhere near the Presidency.
But it was his message that we felt was desperately needed to be heard in this country, especially at this time in her history.
I can't express how uplifting it is to know that there are so many, many Americans who still understand and believe in the concept of freedom and liberty.

The game is rigged in their favor. That much cannot be denied.
But what also cannot be denied is the flame of freedom and liberty that still burns within the hearts of many Americans.
So, what's the answer? If I knew I wouldn't be wasting my time posting to a message board.

There's a difference in choosing to live a certain way based on your own moral beliefs and religious ideals compared to forcing those beliefs onto others.

I appreciate your point, but Martin Luther was a Catholic priest.

Thomas Cranmer, Henry VIII's Archbishop of Canterbury, was an ordained Catholic priest I believe, before the Church of England split from the Roman Catholic Church.

One must interact with the system to effect the system.
