According to this, only 252 public schools across the entire United States had 3000 or more students and only 24 in Florida. Since it has a few hundred more than 3000, then a number of those schools would be smaller as well. And since public schools are usually larger than private schools (a lot of k-12 private schools too).
There are over 18,500 high schools who are members of the National Federation of State High School Associations.
And in some states, private schools aren't even members, if they even have sports. So just using 18,500, that means only 1.3% of the 252 schools with 3,000 (assuming those are all traditional high schools with sports programs), then less 1.4% have 3000+ students.

Random thoughts:
Stoneman Douglas HS has 3500 students.
The shooting occurred in the freshman building. Most of the students killed were freshman, 14 & 15 years old.
The outspoken bald chick and Anderson Cooper Jr are seniors.
Were they even in the building, heck, on campus, at the time of the shooting?
Did they even know any of the victims, given the age difference and size of campus? It occurred last period when the news said most students were already off campus.
How about the blond "second shooter" chick who claimed to have walked down the stairs with Cruz. She is a senior or college student. What was she doing in the freshman building?
And why would Cruz go to the freshman building for his attack?
Was his ex girlfriend a freshman? Her new boyfriend? Was he targeting the ROTC class, which appears to have been in that building (based on several victims from ROTC and the story of the guy who helped ROTC kids hide)
