it's cute that you think this will stop at that level

But even then. There are a lot of such people who would like to at least have a shot and running for president

And yet 2016 Trump voters are the exact people who Joe Biden needs to court. Not people who were already voting for him.

You either want to defeat Trump or your don’t. If you do, pandering to people already on your side at the expense of losing anyone who cares about actual policy is one heck of a strategy.

Trumps popularity within his own party is extremely high. There’s no use pandering to them. The more moderate electorate is who he needs to focus on. He can do that on his own. Harris or Bottoms will help with his base.

no. Obama was at least in the Senate and had articulable positions on non-race issues. Bottoms is nothing more than a pander. Making her the VP nominee would be the greatest gift given to the GOP since the Democrats nominated Hillary over Bernie four years ago

The Democrats, don't have to buy her since she is already owned lock, stock, and barrel, and ready to do their biding. She would make a great puppet president. The biggest plus is Biden in the throes of dementia will think she is his nurse...lots of pluses with this pick.

These voters are the ones who voted for trump over Hillary or stayed home entirely. They are generally educated, and likely are looking for a better alternative to Trump this go round. They are intelligent enough to see that Biden is going to die sooner than later, and his VP pick is more important than ever. They are also the exact population who despises blatant pandering and low information election cycles.

Democrats would have them in the bag if they just chose a ticket compromised of thoughtful politicians with a message revolving around healthcare. But instead you’d rather pander? Such a terrible mistake and everyone sees it coming. TURNOUT FROM THE BASE WILL. NOT. INCREASE. “The base” for both parties already votes.

So let’s unpack this. Neither Biden nor the VP candidate are going to draw moderate Trump voters and yet you think that sort of ticket has a chance of success? You are hilariously and catastrophically wrong if you think everyone who voted for POTUS in 2016 is part of his “base”. And your candidate and party are fools for ignoring them. Again.

I certainly never said, nor do I believe, that anyone Biden picks will change the mind of a trump supporter.

Because you have plenty of money and you want to feel good about yourself.

Wouldn't change anything. I have no clue why shes touted so highly. She rarely says anything that's middle of the road. Shes had a lot of venomous public appearances and statements. Comes off far angrier than when she was in the white house. Maybe her time there is what made her this way.

If you think she will be such a terrible pick, why are you so upset?

Biden alone brings in more moderates than say Bernie or Warren would have. His VP can focus more on turnout, minorities, specific state targets, etc.

No, he doesn’t. At least not anymore

No one on that list nets a Biden ticket one single vote that it wasn’t already receiving.

Because I absolutely despise low information politics. I despise pandering... not only is it corrosive to our public discourse, it’s also generally totally ineffective. And, to boot- choosing a pander/weak/blatantly token black running mate just gives us yet another horrendous election cycle with awful candidates all around. Yay! Let’s pander to the base that already votes just because!!!!! That’s no better than the right courting the hurr durr Pence is a man of god crowd.

ETA: It is notable and laughable that you address almost none of my points regarding how terrible of a strategy play the Democratic ticket is turning out to be.

They need to stop over thinking it and pick Warren. Her economic message is closer to Trump than what most realize and could help in the mid west.

Reported by Fox News who cited multiple Democrat Party officials involved with the selection.
Word is Biden likes Kamala but Democrat Party officials are warning him off her.
Lindsey Graham would be a good choice for a female Democrat VP.

In this day and age...isn't the question still relevant?

I'm so confused.

Biden/Bottoms...a laughable ticket...and an accurate statement if justice was ever truly served in this country.
