Latino/hispanic is a geographical and linguistic description not racial or ethnic.
A white person from Mexico or an Asian person from Argentina are both considered Latino/hispanic

I once "discussed" violent crime statistics with a blck guy. He either couldn't or wouldn't understand the concept of per capita.
Same with this topic, some folks are either too dumb or too dishonest to waste energy on trying to explain. In my experience, generally speaking, most black folks share this trait. IMHO
