The world's "most fearsome weapon of mass destruction", climate change.

Kerry, who delivered the speech on Sunday in the capital, Jakarta, spoke critically about climate change sceptics adding that everyone and every country must take responsibility and act immediately.
"We simply don't have time to let a few loud interest groups hijack the climate conversation," he said, referring to what he called "big companies" that "don't want to change and spend a lot of money" to act to reduce the risks.
He later singled out big oil and coal concerns as the primary offenders.
"The science is unequivocal, and those who refuse to believe it are simply burying their heads in the sand," Kerry said.

Well, please Lurch ... go on ... explain it to us ... break it all down.

What is the end game? Climate change is caused by big oil and coal? Tax them out of business? Does that reverse the actions causing Mother Earth to heal herself? Who is the financial beneficiary? Do they really want to put "big oil" out of business or do they want to extort more money from them?
How is this any different than what the government has done to big tobacco? If smoking is so bad then outlaw it. But the government thrives off the taxes. In the end the government does want anyone to quit smoking but derive as much revenue as possible from the product.

Well...that's that! Maybe HE knows what the Earth's "normal" global temperature is supposed to be.

That's definitely the endgame; tax fossil fuel energy companies, more. They get big oil on, income taxes, corporate taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes and probably taxes that I'm unaware of. They need a new tax. If it where not for trying to tax CO2 it would be something else.

Colder winters and hotter summers...mega-drought in California right now...intensifying storms. All theses scenarios are upon us, and Kerry's *plan* is to RAISE ENERGY prices, which will slam the economy and the ability of people to PURCHASE the resources required to deal with these scenarios.
Raise taxes Energy "electricity will necessarily skyrocket" (Obama quote)...send the money to Third World dictators, and all will work out.
Brilliant plan. From our wise leaders.

Sometimes when I hear people criticize the younger Bush, especially when lamely defending obama with "Bush did it too" I like to ask them about how this guy and gore would have been better, because those were the ONLY options.

IMO the words "science" and "believe" should never be used in the same sentence (I just did
). "Believe" implies a degree of faith. "Science" requires zero faith.

"Big oil" has been on board with climate change for well over a decade. Kerry should educate himself a bit before going off.

"Big oil" doesn't really care. They know they'll just pass along the extra cost to the consumer (who is the little guy for the majority).

Gas was a $1.85 when Bush left, TA.
Do you really think that Obama DON'T want high Energy prices? Really?
You can thank FRACKING on PRIVATE LAND for our relatively ($3+) low gas prices. He won't even let em' build the Pipeline; the Canadians WILL sell that oil to China.
Talk won't settle this stuff. The talk has become corrupted. People now believe what they CHOOSE to. Mother Nature will put us back on the honest straight and narrow.
I gotta work.

I'm really sick of this shite.
I know big oil is probably worried about pissing off the public if they try to expose these frauds, but I'm ready for them to get aggressive.
They should put together a few million $ and get some very good scienties who are not nut jobs to do a study. After everything is done, they need to go on a world wide kick arse marketing campaign to stop the climate change idiots.

And we will continue to stay in the shithole that is the middle east. Therefore, Obama's actions are directly prolonging a war in a 3rd world country. I thought you liberals claimed that the Republicans were war mongers?

AGW or climate change will be used as a means of bringing forth a one world govt. with the UN in control of the planet in its entirety. People in developed nations will be taxed to pay for "improvements in an environmentally safe" means of developing the 3rd world nations.

If the situation is so dire, why don't it's advocates suggest all at war with China and India?
It seems their annihilation would have the greatest affect on CO2 emmissions.

So their response is to make companies buy carbon credits for a guy in Texas to plant some trees.
Regardless of your belief on the science, the concept that "taxes" will "save the planet" is stupid.

I guess I can rest easy now knowing that nukes are no longer going to end the world. Imagine Kerry moving GW to the top of the list with something that will take decades, if not longer, to destroy the planet instead of something that could only take days.
I think Gus McCray had more vision than Kerry.
