They're sovereignty? The only thing protecting their sovereignty is that 1) nobody cares about them and 2) its political suicide in our PC culture to even suggest taking it away from them. They are not a truly sovereign nation by any reasonable stretch of the imagination. They're "country" is a tiny corner of one state and they're "nation" is almost fully supported by a casino and bullshite federal contracts. They are nothing more than a welfare leach on US taxpayers.

I couldn't care less about what the Cherokee people do. They don't bother me one bit, I'm just having a tough time grasping what Elizabeth Warren thought that she stood to gain from proving her connection to this pretty mediocre and unremarkable group of people

Yeah I get it we let them "play" sovereign nation on a tiny slice of Oklahoma. Nobody gives a frick about them though. If the Cherokee secretary of state tried to call a real world leader, he'd be laughed at.

Tell us about YOUR heritage so that we can discuss THAT.

“I’m just having a tough time grasping what Elizabeth thought that she stood to gain”

Covering her previous lies. She used it for gains in admittance, etc.

Now, she’s hoping to run for POTUS, and needs cover for her lies.

Richard Blumenthalish. Mr Viet Nam.

If their SoS didn't broker a deal with Iran he's still better than John Kerry.
The Cherokee SoS also never got 4 diplomats and entourage killed in Benghazi dealing weapons illegally.

They did serve the entire USA, and possibly the world, in WWII though by providing an unbreakable code for covert communications. (Navajo got the movie but Cherokee also did the same without a movie deal)

That's non-responsive. Warren is a white person too.

PS We need to watch your posts around here. You might be here to post as an ignorant white man in order to discredit all white men. You are doing a good job of that so far.

The Cherokee Nation is a sovereign nation. Much like many others, they are doing quite well. They take care of their own and whitey keeps going to casinos and giving the Skins money every day of every week. Billions of dollars.

they claim they used to rule these lands and all they have to show for it is a single hard rock casino
Possibly the most ignorant and outright stupid statement I have ever read on this board. Ever. And that's saying something because I've read a lot of Toddy and Rex comments.

You should research some. It would do you good.

they claim they used to rule these lands
What lands, specifically? The Cherokee are where the whites placed them. As are my people, the Navajo, in Arizona and New Mexico. But since you're hitting at Oklahoma tribes, educate yourself. Please. "These lands" (Oklahoma) are currently home to many Tribal Nations... Cherokee, sure. And Sac & Fox, Arapaho, Sioux, Iowa, Cheyenne, Muscogee, Creek, Seminole and many, many others.

And those sovereign Nations provide financial royalties, free courts and free healthcare to tribal members, while operating governments that financially remain in the black and are limited in size and scope overall when compared to even the most conservative US towns and cities.

But let's not stop there. Let's look at the tens of billions of dollars annually donated by the tribes to State Governments for highway and bridge infrastructure projects as well as hoards of monetary donations towards public school systems.

But why keep going. Probably wasting my damn time trying to get through anyway.

No, he does not.
