The way he just described Russia, they should be taking over Europe and the ME without much drama

He sounded like a commissar for the soviet union circa 1985.

They havent done any of what he described to Ukraine who has a fraction of our resources and somehow they're going to dominate all of Europe in a matter of days?

I agree their high speed missiles would be a problem and their battlefield experience with drones an advantage, but lets not pretend this is peak USSR through the Fulda Gap we're talking about here or that the majority of their platforms can even survive on the battlefield against ours.

They're resorting to using 1970s era main battle tanks to fight Ukraine to a near stalemate while leveraging tactics from WWI. They arent taking Poland if we are engaged and we could push them out of Ukraine in 3 months if we decided to go all in (*** we should not go all in***).

Britain could field a fighting force of 150 tanks and 10,000 men within 3 months. The British have 500 Field Generals and 500 horses and 150 serviceable Tanks.

The number for France is 20,000 at best.

This is why they are so angry, their own people will eat them if they raise taxes further or cut social services.

This substantial difference is reflected in the number of ships produced. In 2023, China constructed over 1,000 vessels, while the United States built fewer than 10.

The US like Russia could quickly re industrialize. But better now than after the shooting starts.

We have to reindustrualize. Our impressive financial and biotechnology sectors don't mean squat when the bullets start flying.

Agreed.

That's what our generals thought in Vietnam.

Turns out, you've got to fight to win regardless of what you have.

Sure, to an extent. We used quantity to our advantage in WWII. This isn't that.

Vietnam was never a threat to the United States. If we wanted to, we could've bombed the frick out of them and beat them into submission without putting a single boot on the ground there. Same goes for Iraq and Afghanistan.

The ability of our military to win wars has never been the problem. The problem has been soccer moms watching these wars on TV and boo hooing over casualties.

Trump has talked about this. He's mentioned ship building capacity several times and increasing industry and manufacturing in the US is one of the main issues he ran on. It's only been a month.

How much did he increase those things in his 4 years he was president last time?

So long as companies are about maximizing all profits nothing will change, as the only way to do that is to offshore.

Russia never wanted to take all of western Europe. That's a propaganda fantasy.

They have killed a million Ukranians and taken most of what their objectives call for.

How many US planes would be shot down? How many ships sunk?

This is all crazy talk. We are not a land power in Europe. We cannot stop a million man arm there.
And why should we. RUSSIA IS not the enemy.

Eh we have the capacity if we really needed it. We didn’t have it at the beginning of WW2 and FDR went and made all private arms and vehicle manufacturers stop producing for civilians and start building for the military.

The Soviet Union in 1945 was actually planning on attacking the western Allies before the A-Bomb went off.

For decades the Soviet Union had plans to take over Western Europe as part of the global spread of communism.

However I am unaware of any plan by modern Russia to take over Western Europe.

Yes. There are 500 horses in the British military.

I assume they’re either ceremonial or used for very specific purposes like MP crowd control.

Keep in mind, the US Navy still has this officially in their fleet:

I need some sauces for this. I've never seen anything even remotely hinting at this.

Besides, Stalin knew what was up. He knew the Red Army would get it's arse kicked by the United States in '45-'46.

Like others have said. You have to have industrial capacity. Tech is awesome but expensive and when you run out of the nifty weapons you are screwed.

We still need someway to just bludgeon the enemy with mass dumb firepower if needed. I don't think we still have that capability.

I always go to power grid with this. If China truly wanted to go to war with us they would shut off our power, and do not be naive, they do that at any moment.

We will not be able to industrialize if our population is fighting a civil war due to a grid attack.

This is not about ship vs ship, man vs man. The way to takw down the US is through tech and attacking a weakness. That weakness is our grid.
