So what did thr Ukraines lack that we never gave them? More planes?

You will need drone like weapons that can be mass produced and you can launch, fly half way around the world, conduct aerial surveillance and find a target and then destroy it.
Or they can land in a field, conduct surveillance, wait on a target and destroy it.
No people, aircraft carriers or forward bases needed.
Whoever perfects this, wins.

China will put a hull number on a kayak and call it a "ship". We have a 4:1 advantage over China in combat tonnage. Plus, the vast majority of their navy is coastal for operations in the South China Sea and East China Sea. Their ships lack the range to project power globally.

Why would we utilize these resources for Ukraine?

We need satellite laser precision destruction technology!

We don’t need to fight a ground war.
We have an ocean for that.

We need a lot more of and different types of drones. Likely we will go for a badass drone fighter rather than a bunch of sixth generation fighters. And we need the cheap and reliable kamikaze drones.

So do we want a MIC or not? You can't have it both ways.

Germany was one nation that foolishly decided to take on the entire world. No matter how technologically advanced you might be, no matter how ahead your military doctrine is, sheer strength in numbers eventually wins. In a hypothetical world war, the Chinese would be fighting Japan, South Korea, (maybe) Vietnam, (maybe) India, the Five Eyes, and NATO. They will inevitably be overwhelmed by the weight of the entire world in a protracted conflict - just as Germany was in both World Wars.

Are you saying that giving all of our shite to Ukraine so that they can then turn around and sell 70% of it on the black market was a bad idea?
And this seems like a perfect opportunity to ramp up American manufacturing.

I'd love an explanation to this.

This has been something I’ve been trying to explain to people for years.
We simply can’t sustain a war because when our reserve munition stockpiles run out our replenishment rate is too low and we lack the ability to ramp up production on a relevant timeline.
People think we have all these reserve factories sitting around ready to convert to war production but we don’t.

Well...we have bases in every region of the world, allowing us to respond militarily within 24 hours to any crisis that might present itself. We have 11 active aircraft carriers that can hold up to 64 individual aircraft apiece, able to arrive in a combat zone within a matter of days, providing up to 700 fighters and bombers within hours of a declaration of war. These aircraft are state of the art, the pilots who fly them are highly trained, and the weapons which they carry are some of the smartest and most capable ever produced.

That is why they need to bring the draft back

I do not believe this for a second.

Anduril, and companies like it, need to become the largest dod contractors like yesterday.
We’re still building for a 2001 era war. We need to be building for a 2050 war.
Patriot missiles are the shite. But when the other guy can put 10,000 flying grenades w/ homing in the air you have to have a more cost effective solution.
To fight a war 10 years from now, you’ll need automated factories turning out tens of thousands of mission-specific drones per day. You’ll need a range of defense capabilities specifically for drones across all battlefields.
And a quantum encrypted communications network… thanks microsoft.
Eta: carriers should be retrofitted with automated drone assembly bays for stock replenishment near the front

Even the US lacks the industrial capacity to replace expended munitions. The US is like a heavyweight with a big punch that gasses out after 2 rounds.
This is a great argument for peace and Ukraine. And for reindustrialization of the United States.
I agree. We should certainly ramp up production of 556 because the cheapest decent round you can find right now in bulk is Korean made PMC.
I want to be able to fill my ammo safe with American-made ammo again and not break the bank doing it.
