The US spends a lot of money per student for public education and we are worse for it.

I'm listening to this Debbie Dingell dingbat from MI voicing her concerns over the debt ceiling battle currently taking place in congress. Dingell is very concerned over R proposals to reduce federal funding for public education. We must do what's best for the children.

The US spends more money for the US military than the next nine countries combined.....and the US military is not 10x more powerful than the next nine countries combined.

It's very similar with taxpayer money funding public education, we spend more per student than nearly every industrialized nation and the results are abysmal. The only success story that one could tout for the US public education system would be a success story from the cultural Marxist's veiwpoint, over the past 30-40 years the US educational system has been extremely successful in turning out Woke indoctrinated cultural Marxists.

Our education system is waaaay too expensive for the results.

Destroy it and rebuild it with less social engineering.

It doesn't matter how much money you throw at education, when your average IQ is dropping due to massive immigration from the south. Its also the same people who are reproducing, creating a massive increase in an average lower IQ population.

The left will continue to make this into a story for divisive purposes, but everyone knows deep down what is really happening. I would advise not having kids as we transition into a third world society over the rest of the century.

Utah spends less per student than almost any other state with better results.

California is one of the worst performing, despite spending a shite load of money.

You can't fix education when half your population doesn't value it.

Too many admin and management positions and too few teachers. Trash the admin state above the teachers and double the number of teachers, and the results would change drastically.

The Left want to do for healthcare what they've done for education. It'll be different next time!

Starts and ends at home. I have heard parents refer to public education as the free baby sitter. Numerous teacher have told me at parent teacher conferences the only parents who show up are the best behaved, best grades kids in class. Parents who don’t give a crap kids sure don’t

The education system has it flaws, but it would be alot better if society in general knew how to raise respectful kids with morals.

The educations system will only be as good as the students you have in the system.

Its time for most of us to admit that the USA has a pretty shitty population.

You're right about the unions. But teachers are not the cause of the high cost. Their salaries are still very low. The cost no one knows about is administration. You can walk around any districts 'central office' and find larger staffs than you expected with most employees taking breaks in their cafeteria area.

They have titles that are simply made up:
'arse't to the Vice President of the Dept of Child Development.'
What does she do? Nothing. Just collect a check much larger than a teacher's.

She's been paid to grift for the teacher's unions.

And in case anyone has forgotten, the teacher's unions represent the teacher's interests not the student's interests.

The closest thing students have watching out for them is parents.

Bingo. I'll just add that it all starts at home for better or worse. But the worse is simply the majority and there is no fixing that at this point.

I watch a fair amount of NHK (Japanese) and it is remarkable the difference between their students and ours. Their kids there are lightyears ahead of ours in pretty much everything that matters. Our society is failing and there really isn't any denying it.

This! It doesn’t matter if you have the best teachers in the world, the greatest facilities, the perfect curriculum, unlimited money, and elite leadership; if you don’t have students willing to learn your education system will suck.

Then we need to spend far less money.
