Any more threats of invasion are hollow now that we are in the dry season.

I never heard talk about invading.

The only news I heard about boots on the ground was that we might go get the weapons grade material, and the scary dry season won’t affect capability to do that.

Iran just entered the dry season, which lasts until September. This essentially makes an already difficult invasion of Iran impossible, largely because it turns the country's severe logistical, geographical, and environmental challenges into insurmountable obstacles.

I do not have the words to adequately express how breathtakingly stupid that statement is.

The dry season makes an invasion impossible?!?

You don’t take your war analysis from a personal injury attorney in New Orleans?

There is a circuit of military/intel/academic types discussing this conflict who are not never-Trumpers or anything who think we are being gaslit and the realists in the Pentagon are basically being ignored. I don't know what to think anymore.

Iran knows this and has done a masterful job of delaying U.S. action through what I call guerrilla diplomacy - they appear to have no had to play against our superior military but have somehow come out of this conflict (thus far) with an even better hand than before we invaded.

You know Iran has been suffering from dryness for a long while, they are considering possible solutions for their own citizens. As far as battle actions the blockade is dealing with internal issues while air and sea assaults seems to have damn good results

Good. I don't think anyone wanted boots on the ground.

I didn't want war at all.

But once in a war, I want it prosecuted until they surrender.

You aren't going to accomplish the goals...no uranium, open strait, etc, because Iranian leadership is so intransigent that they will never give an inch on uranium. And you can't get weapons to any resistance group and ensure their success without support on the ground.

This is why the United States would be better served to not engage in military action unless the commitment is there to do whatever is necessary to totally defeat the enemy.

Because when we try to half-do things or let politics get in the way, you end up with nonsense like this OP.

We never needed ground troops. We can send in the Navy and just block their ports. China can’t fly in everything.

There will be no ground action in Iran, regardless of the weather.

The OP may not be entirely correct, but why is everyone just blindly dismissive of his basic points?

You know, some of us were actually alive and remember the Operation Eagle Claw debacle. What day did that happen?

April 24.

Blowing sand and a dust storm were major contributing factors to the disaster.

Is a land operation this time of year impossible? Probably not. But it certainly creates major challenges to successfully overcome. Sure, our military is the best trained in the world. But how do you train for those scenarios?

Any ground action will be extremely limited, targeting IRGC leadership nodes. Heavy raiding groups with light support- battalion level at most. The dry season isn't a factor.

Operation Eagle Claw was extremely limited also. Four days ago was the anniversary. You don't think the dry season was a factor?
