This will not be a popular opinion on here but using the Guard to fight crime will open the door for extreme abuse of power once there is a Democrat back in office.
Sending in the national guard to assist local law enforcement with a crime problem sets a bad precedent?

I disagree 100%.
The leftist narrative is that putting more police in the streets is racist and will make our cities LESS safe (I know, that's a difficult on to wrap your head around), and thereby make things worse.
What is happening is that people are seeing with their own eyes that a strong law enforcement presence can make our cities safer AND restore our freedoms.
If we can establish that strong law enforcement works, then other cities will be forced to change their approach to get better results.
In other words, this is about setting the bar for other cities to follow. We didn't need to use the National Guard - the DC police could have done this. But they won't, because of woke policies. It will be difficult for them to go back to policies that allow the criminals to take over again.

Let’s say the Governors of Chicago and California refused to mobilize their NG to help enforce the laws in their major cities? What should Trump do?
Yeah that is tough because he has a duty to protect all U.S. citizens. The Governor's work for him and U.S. citizens so Trump can just ignore those governors

The Guard will eventually be used to fight white supremacy, fight for climate initiatives, etc.
I appreciate the sentiment but this is a really bad precedent.
a few things here.....
The precedent has already been set. The National Guard was deployed MANY times in the interest of crime fighting by Dems and Reps alike. Obama deployed the guard to DC during the summer of love, so regardless of what you hear on CNN, there's nothing "unprecedented" about this.
Secondly, you are out of your goddamned mind if you still think dems need to be goaded into authoritarian behavior.

Democrats turned American cities into war zones and cut their police budge
Jesus you’re retarded. Police budgets have only gone up. I’m assuming you’ve never been to an American city if you think they are war zones. Touch some grass snowflake

Seems like if Dems are so concerned with who ensures that their cities are safe and not crime-ridden, then they should make that a priority in the major population centers they control...

Then of course you dont get the necessity.

So... use precedent for current abuses? Another proof the OP is right.
Not really.
Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, if for no other reason than to show that you will not lay down and let them do whatever they want to.
If Republicans never return fire, there is no incentive for them to quit. They went beyond the usual lies and political shenanigans. They weaponized government agencies. This all points originates from corruption, and the more they escalate this, the more we are going to see the establishment for what it is.
Democrats opened fire first. The Republicans are returning fire. Are the Democrats going to escalate this, or deescalate? I think there is a better chance that they deescalate, now that they know the Republicans won't roll over.

Do you idiots not understand that the National Guard, under Title 32, are expressly supposed to have direct law enforcement activity capabilities? That's one of the big differences between Title 10 troops and Title 32, suggest you brush up on grade school civics.

Where is this white supremacy of which you speak? Keep hearing about it yet no one can offer up any evidence.
And they are patrolling the streets, not people's homes.

Somebody is worried how successful this will be beyond DC and the results of losing another 4M net votes to MAGA, including intelligent blacks looking to get off the Dem reservation.

Nothing. Let them kill each other.

And that’s why you won’t see any NG troops policing cities like Chicago, Los Angeles or Baltimore.

Calling bullshite that the distinction between Title 10 and Title 32 orders were covered in your (or anyone’s) elementary school curriculum.

I’ve spent most of the past decade living in cities
War zone is accurate. In summer they ransack the downtown areas, post Covid they carjack in the nice areas instead of keeping it contained to their ghetto nests. Public beach? Filled with thugs. There are illegals begging on every fricking corner downtown
No city should have “no go” zones, that just signifies a lack of law and order
