The Democrat party in 1861 was more conservative than The Republican party (for all intents and purposes was just the Whig Party with a new name). Who wanted less central authority? Believed in State's rights? Hated unjust Tariffs? Was against taxing one group for internal improvements for another group? Tried to resolve a political crisis with a peaceful secession?
Who wanted more tariffs? For the purpose of building infrastructure in the North? Believed in a powerful central government? Waged war on peaceful people? Invaded and bankrupted innocent civilians? Jailed political dissidents? Suspended Habeas Corpus? and on, and on, and on.

No matter how ishtty Kinsinger is, it doesn’t rehabilitate Trump’s record on spending, 2A, monetary policy, stimulus, etc.
When you have to resort to “my dude is better than Kinsinger!” it’s quite an admission. And the GOPe’s playbook they’ve run for decades to elect losers like…. Adam Kinsinger.
