I agree with the problem the surveillance state poses, but you have republicans pushing for FISA renewal. The ship has sailed so far you can't even see it at this point. It is probably one of my biggest issues with his presidency. It needs to end but there are few people in congress actually fighting it.
It’s almost as if the citizens are saying “we reject mass migration, we are in favor of limiting citizenship to people who can be trusted to live their lives within the law”. Meanwhile, Congress is replying “ No, we are in favor of mass immigration, both legal and illegal, and we need FISA and data centers because we know a disproportionately large percentage of these will live their lives outside the law”.
It’s basically a FU from those you elected. Both parties. No worries, you won’t be stabbed (or worse), mate.

This right here (wealthy people like Nevill) is just the tip of the iceberg. The cancer of socialism and communism has taken hold in America and western civilization on a scale most westerners cannot comprehend.
Regardless is you are religious or not, this is a battle of good vs evil on biblical proportions. Their intentions are not just.

Demand for research is real. Amazon got into for guess why and only first guess counts.
I know a number of people who use it, not cheap arse ChatGPT et al you can use for free which generally give piss poor information, but paid for AI. It shrinks their work from a week into less than day.

Exactly. No one cares about Powermuallh searching for the white party pics in Palm Springs
No of us are that important to worry about surveillance

We tried excessive water use, excessive light, and excessive power consumption. Now we’re on to “surveillance”. The real reason is that China knows that whoever wins the AI race will control the world. They want to prevent the US from winning, so they are investing billions in propaganda to convince Americans to oppose it.

Reports indicate that networks linked to Neville Roy Singham utilizes nonprofits and NGOs to orchestrate protests and spread negative narratives regarding U.S. data centers. These campaigns have reportedly delayed or blocked over $23 billion in AI and data center investments Singham lives in China and is being utilized to help China win the AI race. So the next time you post about non existent particles in recycled water or some noise that is far less than your weed whacker......you are being played by the chinese, congratulations.

I didn’t, and won’t.
I don't believe I ever said that anyone else had to NOT care.
All I said was that there is some serious melting around data centers - and then a lot of y'all reacted as if I kicked your mother in the crotch.
If y'all want to carry that torch, then great - I support you in your right to be offended by data centers. That said, maybe not everyone else shares that opinion...and doesn't see it as big of a deal as you see it.
Have there been issues with some of the data centers that have been built - sure. But the wholesale "data centers are bad, spying on us all, no personal freedoms, they're watching me undress" is a little hyperbolic.

Data Center = Big Brother.

I asked chatgpt what the impact of a/I will be on medicare, social system fraud. Response was massive, able to spot fraud and report in real time. Only limitation will be having enough human investigators to develop arrest warrants .
Might explain the leftist opposition to data centers and police staffing

AI is dependent on technology...not massive and multiple data centers in every town/city. is chyna using reverse psychology?
repeat:
quote:
Data center low-frequency noise and infrasound (\(<20\) Hz) can travel significant distances, often penetrating walls and windows with little attenuation. Under quiet or optimal atmospheric conditions, this hum can travel from 1,500 feet to over 3 miles from the facility.
Because this noise is characterized by its long wavelength and ability to easily penetrate structures, exposure to constant sub-audible vibrations can lead to various community and health disturbances. Residents near large industrial sites report symptoms such as:
This continuous frequency causes permanent hearing damage, vestibular (balance) issues, elevated cortisol levels, stress, chronic fatigue, headaches, sleep disturbances, cardiovascular and respiratory problems, vibroacoustic disease that is thickening of heart structures and severe physical and psychological distress.

That's a big IF. How are you connecting hollywood with this?

You know for a fact it's for surveillance?
Yes
We’re gonna have to have a tv loicense like England
There will be mass surveillance but it will only serve as a tax to productive people
The government would never ever ever catch and punish actual criminals because that would be racist

AI Technology is dependent on massive and multiple data centers.
It's not worth all of the health problems, lowered property values, noise/lights higher electric bills while the companies building them are making taxpayers shoulder the burden while they get billions in tax abatements and use up millions/billions of gallons of water which is becoming more scarce and causing lower water pressure and toxins that end up in the water.
They are also destroying pollinators.

data centers can create “heat island” effects Scientists say both factors have the potential to stress bees and other pollinating insects
Research emerging in 2026 suggests that large AI-focused data centers can indeed create localized "heat islands" (or "data heat islands"), raising temperatures in their immediate surroundings. This phenomenon is driven by the massive amount of waste heat generated by intensive computing and expelled by cooling systems (such as chillers and fans).
Key Findings on Data Heat Islands (2026)
Temperature Increase: A study published in March/April 2026, looking at over 8,000 data centers, found that surface temperatures in surrounding areas can rise by an average of 3.6°F, with some cases showing increases up to 16°F.
Impact Area: These thermal plumes can impact areas up to 6.2 miles (about 10 km) away from the facilities.Affected Population: The "data heat island effect" could potentially affect more than 340 million people globally.
Urban & Rural Impact: While commonly associated with urban areas, the effect is also significant in rural locations where data centers are built, potentially affecting local agriculture and water resources.
Causes and MitigationCooling Systems: The primary cause is the discharge from air-cooled condensers or cooling towers, which release heat into the atmosphere.Operational Waste: The rapid expansion of AI requires 24/7 high-power computing, which creates substantial heat as a byproduct.

All I said was that there is some serious melting around data centers...
If y'all want to carry that torch, then great - I support you in your right to be offended by data centers. That said, maybe not everyone else shares that opinion...and doesn't see it as big of a deal as you see it.
It's also worth noting, you appeared to draw your conclusion based on Internet searches. AI interaction is much more involved, and potentially much more intrusive, compared with a simple Internet search.
I know many people who have uploaded financial information, tax information, legal information, and even relationship information into their AI inquiries, with no understanding of potential ramifications. E.g., last year a young bank executive casually told me he had loaded his 1040 tax information into several AI engines, including Deepseek, just to see if they could save him a little money on his taxes. The amount of information he was giving out to unknown entities amazingly did not occur… To a bank executive!
None of that is to say that AI is evil or should be shut down or anything of the sort. To the contrary, it is something we should be pursuing aggressively. But it is to say that the hazards are understated, under reported, and we should do a better job of getting that information out, perhaps with an obligatory clear disclosure on the sites

Trains are not making that noise 24/7...data centers are but since you work in that area...I can see why you are biased.

I don’t work in any area. I have some investments in that area, but then again, I have investments in lots of areas.
I stood to lose a shite ton if solar subsidies were removed. I was in favor of cancelling them; they were cancelled; and I lost a shite ton. I don’t let my own prospects overrule what I think is best for the country. I could not be more positive that Data centers are great for America, and without them we will be saluting the Chinese flag.
