More like the future of this country once it is fully run by Millennials. Glad I will be dead.

Of course its offensive. How else are lazy arse people who have been told that the world owes them anything they want and they should not have to lift a finger to achieve anything in life going to get ahead in the real world.

That's the point. Nothing they do is about "equality" or fairness. It's all a groundwork for a system of obedience.

This is the same group that says that if you don't treat people differently because of the color of their skin, you're a racist.

The time has come to take them on. Go about your business, laugh when they squawk and keep going about your business.

If confronted walk right through them. If attacked defend yourself. Press charges.

There are actually a lot of things on the list that make the University of California seem racist. Like things that when said to anyone would be fine, but they put them in the column as racist. I'm pretty sure that in itself is racist.

The worst case of microaggression I ever experienced IRL was an employee who used the word 'Mongolia' when referring to an out of the way forgotten place.

A visiting supervisor overheard the word and started questioning people (including me) about the employee's fitness. The supervisor had a child with Downs Syndrome.

So at Cal you just sit there, look at each other, and blink.

(should I speak first? No, let them initiate...wait, what if my answer is offensive? They're not going ask me anything offensive though; they wouldn't want to get offended...right? They know what questions to ask that aren't offensive so I should be good. I'm not a hostile or negative person; I don't think I am? But what if...what if they sue me, what if they come after me for microaggressions? I'm just going to get up and leave. That would be best just avoid the whole thing. But what if that's a microagression? BUT I HAVEN'T EVEN SAID ANYTHING! OMG, OMG, OMG..I'm trapped, I'm in deep sh!t here.)

Here's an excerpt from one of my nursing books on cultural sensitivity

quote:

Race, in humans, is not a physical characteristic but a socially constructed concept that has meaning to a larger group. The concept of race "originates from societal desire to separate people based on their looks and culture...[it is] a vague, unscientific term referring to a group of genetically related individuals who share certain physical characteristics" (Bigby, 2003). However, the genetic distinctiveness may not exist. Bigby argues that race "is reflected in American society in a way that ethnicity, culture, and class are not" (p. 2) because access to resources is often based on what are called race categories that are applied in the United States to reflect minority and skin color as opposed to genetic categories. In this case, race is more a category constructed by society with its own meaning within that society.

So which is it? How did it change so much from '03 to now?
