“After Vietnam, we had a whole cottage industry develop, basically in Washington, DC, that considered a bunch of military fairies, that had never been shot at in anger, who felt fully qualified to comment on the leadership ability of all the leaders of the United States Army.

BTW, here's his "apology"

quote:

U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. John Jendro, a Pentagon spokesman at the time, told the press that while Schwarzkopf meant no offense, he “meant what he said and said what he meant”

If we are ever involved in another military conflict the lack of strong male leadership will be painfully apparent.

We can’t understand the level of rot taking place in peace time.

Explain to me why it’s “good” to be shot at in anger in a war we never should have been involved in. And in hindsight, was a PR disaster. Yet, we continue doing the same asinine shite.

Well the Generals don’t make those calls. They just go where the pols send them. But they need to be properly prepared and effectively led when they do go

Because it's the job of military leadership to be militarily prepared, not to judge the morality or prudence of any potential conflict. The reasons for civilian control over the military are valid, even if we dislike the judgement of who's in office.

Shadiversity posited the idea that Fairies would be an incredibly effective army, since they could carry long metal needles and poke at tender soft spots between armor panels, and be neigh unstoppable due to effectively being fast as frick like hummingbirds.

But I get the feeling that’s not the kind of Fairies that is being referred to in the OP.

Is reading comprehension of the OP hard for you? Are you generally stupid of history? Can you not put 2 & 2 together? If you can connect two brain cells together then you can use some deductive reasoning to know what I was talking about.

Miley has been a POS forever. He was the coward that left our guys hanging in the Mog while the QRF was looking for a safer ingress route on his orders because they encountered minor resistance.

Meanwhile our guys are fighting a running (literally running) battle outnumbered at least 500:1.

The guy is a fricking coward.

He was describing the difference between a warrior-leader and a manager. But something tells me you have no life experience that would make that obvious to you.

Sounds like you may be one of the ones he was talking about.

Doesn’t matter what the politics of the war are, when our military shows up, they have one objective. Our good General understood this, what we have now would crap its panties and run.

There was a term we used for officers that Schwarzkopf is describing. Good Idea Fairies. these guys had no skin in the game so didn't mind sending platoons to remote outposts in the mountains of Afghanistan.

I heard an interesting stat this week...not sure how accurate but interesting. Also I can't remember the details of the #s, but basic gist is...

The person said that the testosterone levels of men during WWII was way higher than today. Not sure where that info came from but hadn't thought of that being recorded/compared.

An example was around why people think we are having a climate change crisis. You have people today that don't go outside much thinking its "hotter than ever" because they don't have a lot of reference points, like people of the past that had to go outside daily to survive.
