I think a wait and see approach is fine. “Anticipating” ground occupation or thousands of casualties is wish casting.

Why would you call it wish casting? Very strange.

The last time a Republican president unilaterally launched military action in the Middle East to take out a leader and a statue was toppled, thousands of Americans died.
