Man, it's things like this that make me love my health care that I get as part of my union benefits here in San Jose. That shite will never happen to me, thankfully.

Does not compute. Obamacare plans are utter garbage.
That just is not true. If you have Obamacare, you're covered.
I know people with private insurance that is crappier than Obamacare.
I am not an advocate for Obamacare but it was necessary because the assholes running the states refused to ban insurance companies that would not cover people with pre-existing conditions.
I was one of these people and had to give up my business and go back to work for an employer because I could not get insurance unless I had over 35 employees at the time.
Broke me neck in a car wreck when I was 16 and 40 years later am still fine after surgeries decades ago.
There were almost 30 million people who could not get health insurance back when Obamacare came out. It's why many of our representatives on both sides voted for it.
Not an advocate for any of it.
But you need to understand why it was done and how it works.
You don't just get turned away from a doctor with Obamacare. You may not be able to go to a private doctor who does not care for medicare or medicaid but there are literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of doctors that will care for Obamacare covered individuals.
I saw the same thing happen to a few of my buddies when they had kids who had some sort of an autoimmune disease or nasty disease. They also had to leave their dream job of being self employed DUE TO STATES NOT FIXING IT FOR DECADES.

We have developed a system where the truly wealthy can get access to greater and greater care options ...
I'm not here to judge ... if this system is better or worse than other systems.

Of course it should. The alternative is a group of bureaucrats telling this woman she's too old to get this expensive transplant.
I think the point flew over your head.

... what are you smoking? i believe it only got something like a singular GOP vote in both house and senate combined, and even dozens of house democrats and a couple senators voted against it.
there was certainly not support from both aisles for it, although both aisles did vote against it, dems just had too solid of a majority for even bipartisan opposition to matter.

completely
Yes, I have a doctor, and pay too much for healthcare. Thanks Obama.
But 'completely ' would mean no doctor, no healthcare.

i know lmao i was responding to someone who said many representatives on both sides voted for it. just completely inventing history.

But remember he’s not an advocate for it. He’s just telling a complete fiction to tell us how good it is.

Well you didn't actually address what I said, so...

quote:That simply isn't true. We spend billions -directly- on indigent care, and untold billions as hidden costs to paying customers. if you include Medicare you're into trillions. That is a fact.
We have developed a system where the truly wealthy can get access to greater and greater care options, wile the rest of the country is not able to. ... Just stating a fact.
But even so... why doesn't the OP go to the UK, Canada, etc? I mean... it's FREEEEEE there. There has to be some answer.
quote:What gives one a "right" to someone else's labor? There's a word for that.
Half of our country believes unlimited access to health care is a "right", and the other half believe it is a "privilege".

If we could somehow untangle the myriad of government intrusions into the healthcare system over the decades, that bill would probably have been 1/10 of what it is. Still a lot of money, but quite a bit more manageable.
I’ve been in the position of having to negotiate with hospital administrator in the past, well before ACA. I got my bill cut in half since that sounded better to them than me filing bankruptcy. I paid the lower amount off over time. It’s not perfect, but a place to start.

I was asking a legit question, BTW.
But since you chose to go full dumbass, here's a fact nitwit:
Either you have no idea as to whom you're addressing on a healthcare topic, or you suffer from digital self-injury disorder.

Care to pursue this further, or are you done?

Sad story. I know a lot of people that do not have health insurance. That is a choice they make. They could pay for it but choose not to. They will also complain if something catastrophic happens.

My dad went to MD Anderson for Prostate cancer after the VA treated his elevated PSA for 2 years with antibiotics, thinking it was just prostatitis. Finally, they did a biopsy, and of course it was cancer. So, off to MD Anderson he and Mom went, and they refused to treat him after working him up, saying his Gleason score of 8 was too high, they only took 7 and below…. I assume to advertise their cure rates, but such a wasted trip, and for a fairly common cancer…
