Add taxes to insurance and you probably only get to use 30% of your money.
Health insurance
Life insurance
Car insurance
Liability insurance
Flood insurance
It’s a rat race and it’s all fricking nonsense.

Wtf are we doing with our taxes damn. I can understand those commie countries high taxes because they got a lot of government stuff but why do we need the 28000th tank

It's worded as though Jimbob (is that what Jimbo is short for?) was unable to fit a 2.0 in high school inside a tank.

It's crazy to think about. There were 2 million Americans at the time and the fastest way to get a message across was a galloping horse.

As long as we have the circus and bread, most Americans will just take it and exclaim that it’s the best country on planet earth.
And it’s not even that we’re taxed so absurdly and told it’s the land of free and home of the brave and all that nonsense, but it’s what we get in return for all that taxation that should bother everyone to death, and it’s not much, but other countries and corporations that are the beneficiaries of all that American tax payers money instead of Americans is what should be the turd in the punch bowl that causes us to react at election time, but NOPE…. Wash and repeat. That’s what we get.
Those founding fathers you speak of would have long ago revolted, but we are comfortable as the government’s subjects, and demand nothing responsible from them. Better just row well and live.

Withholding is one of the worst things to ever happen. If taxpayers had to write a check in one lump sum annually, they'd hang their congressman the next day.

That statement is misleading.
No one LIKES being taxed.
The Sons of Liberty shouted “no taxation without representation”. They weren’t against paying any and all taxes,
they were primarily against not being represented.
The “Founding Fathers” clearly intended for there to be taxes:
quote:
Article I, Section 8, Clause 1: The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States
Honestly, too many of y’all have the Gilligan’s Island understanding of taxes.
quote:
And whatever other taxes. We need smaller government including military. Just cut everything by 50%
Folks shout buzzwords like “smaller government” which usually means they want to eliminate programs someone else needs that they don’t.
Considering there is an active war in the Ukraine, trouble in the Middle East, China maintaining a threatening posture, issues with securing our own borders, etc, we don’t need to cut our military by 50%. That’s a frickING ridiculous statement.
I’ve heard it attributed to Oliver Wendell Holmes among others, but “taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society”.
So yeah, I’ve looked at my paycheck before and said who is this FICA guy and why is he taking my money. My biggest personal peeve is when I look at my phone bill and see all the added taxes. I’m literally going to drive down the road within the next hour and pay my property taxes…which I wait to the last minute because why should they have my money any sooner…I’d love to take that money,
My money, and go spend it on “me”. But at the end of the day, I also LOVE BEING AN AMERICAN AND LIVING IN AMERICA! I realize how blessed I am to be born here in the greatest country on earth. I want to make sure that, as the Founding Fathers wrote, that the “blessings of Liberty” are not only enjoyed by me, but my posterity. That ain’t based on “I have mine, f—
you” but “We, the people”

This! It’s amazing how some people are such simpletons they aren’t able to comprehend anything they don’t already believe.

No one in the history of the world enjoys being taxed. But, up until declaring independence, every one of the founding fathers were subjects to the whims of a Monarchy and had been paying taxes of some sort their entire life.
The tipping point of course was them not having a say so (representation in England) on where those tax dollars went, which sounds very familiar 250 years later.
Then again, at the time, all roads were private, there was no police or fire protection, trash collection, water or sewer systems and no public infrastructure. The only thing those guys could relate to in todays world is the massive industrial military complex.

The founding fathers wanted self-control so that they could get richer themselves and not be beholden to the English monarchy. Everything else was a compromise to get the people to go along with them.

People have to feel it first for it to resonate, and you only get there during hard times. It’s like when times are good and there’s no want, you don’t mind blowing through money and knowing you’re getting royally screwed, but when things start getting tight, the alarm bells start to go off and you wake up and start looking for answers.
America has been getting hammered since we first became a super power, and starting funding the world. Politicians being outrageously philanthropic with American citizens money, as if it isn’t really their money, but someone else’s and they didn’t earn it with the sweat from their brow. They ingratiate themselves with the world’s riches, power, and approval while selling American citizens down the river, and even have those same people wrapping themselves in the flag and claiming it’s something it is NOT, and that the American dream is alive and well, unless of course you think the American dream is to bust your arse your entire life to buy shite you’re told you can’t live without, and all to keep THEIR machine running. We exist, and our minds are preoccupied, but I’d argue few if any really actually “LIVE” life, but rather exist.

Must be why George Washington levied the Whisky Tax. The US even passed its own Stamp tax in 1797. They were actually pretty high on progressive taxation, also.
The founding fathers hated being taxed while have zero say on policy and laws levied by the British crown. You know the whole no taxation without representation thing?
Amazing how wrong so many here got that. But then again projection is strong with the OT

LOL, wait till you figure out that it’s all just made up. Your ‘taxes’ aren’t buying anything. The govt doesn’t have any money. They just authorize the printing process and it rolls out IOU after IOU. It’s all built on nothing but the idea that we will continue yearning for more shite and therefore have to keep contributing.
Their trillion dollar boondoggle adventures are never actually paid for. We’re just the country’s debt slaves working for shite we don’t need to impress people we don’t know or like.

Politicians did the bidding of the cabal and no one complained. Government was intended to be funded by other means. Uneducated on the subject is off the charts. Try discussing eliminating taxes with people and the immediately go full retard.

Some people truly don't realize how much they are taxed even thou they complain, bc lots of things are rolled into a structured bill. If you own a business, they find ways to tax you in more categories especially at the end of the year. It's truly sad. They wonder why people try to cheat them out of money. An office admin spends more money dealing with taxes, licenses, fees, monthly, quarterlies, etc. The list goes on and on.

Only 50% pay anything other than sales tax.
The 50% that do by and large have a surplus so they aren’t willing to sacrifice their lifestyle in a rebellion.
