The one and only thing that could derail Trump and drive a wedge between his supporters and him was simple.
Get him into a no win situation with a ME conflict.
He's screwed if he does nothing and he's screwed if he helps Israel and/or retaliates if Iran attacks US bases or shipping.

MAGA's on board with war. You can see it in thread after thread, post after post. There's no "derailing" MAGA. President Trump will take this country to war on behalf of Israel and the MIC, and MAGA has already rationalized it.
The US can offer defensive support, there's nothing wrong with that. But Israel has made it clear they want regime change and Israel will get what it wants. It has too much money and blackmail wrapped up in the American political system to not.
The United States will engage in offensive action in this war. Israel has paid American politicians good money for this.
