I absolutely hate to agree with Trump… but return to the status quo is a win… how is it not?

Not quite if sanctions are lifted. Iran comes out ahead if this is the deal.

It’s a win for Iran because it’s not quite the status quo. They get their sanctions lifted. It’s a net positive for them.

The whole point of taking action in the first place was to disrupt their nuclear program. We’ve done this twice already and we will probably do it again.

I was told earlier we were going to pay reparations.

I was told we’d get their nuclear dust and they would commit to no nuclear weapons program.

No one should be gloating or rending their garments at this point. We don’t know what “the deal” is yet.

Nothing ever pointless… these world politics which most MAGA and Trump fanboys don’t have damn clue about… if you have even a minimal knowledge of world politics the last 80 years you’ll realize this is how we got set up to “rule the world “ for lack of a better term

The positive in this for us is that Israel is not the hegemonic power in the region

This diminished our power and influence in the region and throughout the world

We have actually turned Iran from a regional actor into a global voice

I also thought one primary point was to enable the iranians to overthrow the religious leaders and set up a better government.

Despite the rioting in the streets, appears they are just going to be subjugated again.

The gravitas of standing up to the great Tiger, and getting concessions

I’m sure all that’s exactly correct. But the only place I’ve seen that narrative being pushed is mostly here. And primarily amongst a particular segment that no matter how hard I try, I can’t take them seriously.

So all in all, the David and Goliath premise doesn’t warrant much serious attention.

I do not see that. We still hold currency everyone wants. That is what put us there to begin with.

Why would anyone care if Iran became a bigger voice on the global stage, and effectively the biggest power in the ME?

Because they are a major energy force, a sponsor of terror, and are a major player with our chief rivals.

I mean if that is all no big deal to you, enjoy the future. . .gonna be great

So I can safely put you into the "we lied" category.

Now, why, in your opinion, did we lie? What were we trying to gain from this?
