The Chicago Teachers Union endorses Mayor Brandon Johnson for re-election.

Shocking news folks.
Chicago Public Schools reported that 43% of students in grades 3 through 8 met state reading standards, while 27% met math standards under newly lowered scoring rules.
Lowered Standards: The Illinois State Board of Education lowered the required test scores (cut scores) for proficiency starting in 2025.
Hard to Compare: Because the state changed the scoring rules, these 2025 numbers look higher than past years, but they do not mean performance truly improved.
Below Grade Level: Even with the easier scoring rules, more than half of students still read below grade level, and nearly three-quarters struggle with math.

It's well past the point - when you have a teachers union endorse a candidate, it is like SFP taking a side on a subject... you don't even need to research your position.
It's likened to a layup w/ AI assist. Yeah, it's a liberal mindset, but one less decision in the day, for choosing the the correct side.

Each state sets their own standards. That means the test in Illinois could be harder or easier than other states.
When it comes to the national reading levels Illinois is ranked 7th. 8 million of the states 12.5 million live in Chicago, so I’m guessing there state standard test is probably harder than most.
