I'm not sure why both bands pop up on classic rock stations/playlists so much.
Because Hard to Handle, She Talks to Angels and Remedy have stood the test of time 30+ years later. After the first two records, they were a mixed bag, but they had a lot of rock radio hits off of those first two albums.
He's a great singer and they were a tight Southern rock band, but Chris Robinson has always been an insufferable blowhard. You have to shut him up in interviews. What dumbass would chastise his own fans for chanting "USA" as a response from classic USA-related imagery that his own band was showing in the background? Shut up and sing, bitch.

Good. To hell with these ani-USA entities. Whether news, musicians, etc.

Their 1992 album "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" was definitely an attempt to sound like a southern rock band.

I think only one original remains but they are superb live.
I didn't realize that, but if the original members hadn't been replaced with guys who can play the paint off the walls it would have been a brand disaster.
I thought they were lame back in the 80s. I had to grow up to realize that I was the one who was lame.

Agreed that band lineup is garbage

I mean, can you have the Crowes, really, without Jeff Cease?
He was in the band for like one album. Marc Ford was better.

Yes
Ford came in on the 2nd album.

All of their music is so derivative. Catchy, but nothing original about the band.
The only song of theirs I've ever really enjoyed was She Talks to Angels. Hard to Handle isn't theirs. Nothing else ever even comes to mind when I think of this band.

By the way, it seemed like the majority of the Birmingham crowd was not there to see the Black Crowes, but Whiskey Myers the opening act (who I had never heard of, but is why the majority of the crowd under 45 was there).
Check em out. Whiskey Meyers is 10x the band The Black Crowes ever was.

They were a Stones and Humble Pie wannabe group.

Seeing things for the first time. They have some great tunes. It's easy to not like Springsteen because he is the most overrated on the planet but it's tough when their music is very good.

That's because Toto is comprised of some of the best musicians in the world from that era.
This is true. It may have taken them 6 months to write that piece of shite song Africa, but those dudes are all legitimately Uber talented musicians. They're still recording shite today too. Or, as if a couple years ago anyways.

huge crows fan when i was in high school there where so different the the grunge of the early 90's. the chris robinson brotherhood was a great southern jam band after the crows broke up. Chris has always been an arse so non of this is surprising at all. got to see them in 2016 with marcus king in new orleans and it was fantastic.

They are kinda lame. But it's ok. They're still really good. Toto is one of those bands I will listen to if someone else is jamming their shite, but I don't put them on any playlists.
