The anti-gun crowd is so close to getting it, even if they don't realize it

Asian Americans are buying guns in record numbers. What’s caused this surge? (Guardian link)

quote:

But when violent attacks against Asian women and seniors increased across the US early last year, she became disillusioned with the police’s ability – and willingness – to protect people who looked like her.

Self-reliance isn't a new concept. Gun rights advocates have been saying this to you for years. And it isn't just "people who look like her." Cops don't give a shite about protecting people who look like me, either.

quote:

"Many folks are intimidated by these conservative, white-dominated spaces that don’t seem very friendly to them,” he said. “So the gun industry has a long way to go in terms of addressing more diverse segments of our population who are interested but feel forgotten or ignored.”

It isn't conservative whites creating an intimidating environment for anyone. It's anti-gun zealots who misrepresent the gun community, lie about statistics, and pretend they only care about safety, all in the name of disarming the population.

I'm involved in the gun culture in two of the most conservative areas in this country, and everyone is welcomed with open arms and we all have a great fricking time.

Don't ever let a Democrat make you feel intimidated to go to a shooting range.

quote:

At the same time, there are documented risks associated with rising household gun ownership, including higher rates of homicides and suicides. An April study from the Annals of Internal Medicine, which surveyed more than half a million Californians, found that people who live with handgun owners are shot to death at a higher rate than those who live in gun-free homes. Women made up 84% of victims.

They couldn't pass up an opportunity to make this stupid, used up point.

This. Gun culture is one of the most diverse, accepting communities in America, bar none.

This is spoken by someone who has never even dipped a toe into the gun industry.

It's like asking a 5 year old to describe a jet engine.

I've never understood how being the fatal victim of a gunshot is worse than the fatal victim of a beating or stabbing. Dead is dead. In fact, I'd rather be shot to death than beat to death.

I’d say part of the problem is people being too dumb or arrogant to follow the rules.

I’ve been at the range one night when a group of minorities walked in. They were immediately stopped at the door, told to walk out, read the sign, comply, and enter.

These idiots walked in openly carrying a firearm which was not in an open locked position and wondered why the white guys behind the counter were pissed.

I would imagine that people with penises zip their penis up in the fly more often than those who dont have penises

I’m not really a gun person but I went out and bought a Badass S&W 45 two weeks ago. The reason for me was I’m not stupid irrational and want to be self sufficient personally if shite hits the fan and or if one of the Homeless idiots in Austin get the wrong idea about entering my home.
I don’t have kids yet but have no idea how men/women who are the protectors of their families don’t have a gun for defense. No way I would bank my hopes on police protection.

Post hoc fallacy.

They hate what an armed citizenry represents and, more importantly, what it prevents.

Folks like BamaAtl and tarzana would love nothing more than to be able to make everyone think as they think.

If you want to convert a Lefty without dropping them from a helicopter first, take them to a gun range.

Better still, bring them to the farm and let them plink off a few hundred rounds.

I wonder what the crime rate in areas where "people who live with handgun owners are shot to death" look like?

In my experience, taking them to the range first is always the worst way to go. There are so many rules and the RSO's are typically strict and salty (both those traits are 100% necessary) that it often intimidates them.

Gong out to a private piece of land is always the best way to go.

I regularly go to the range in Baton Rouge and am often the only white guy shooting. To say crazy white males are the only gun owners is a deliberate lie.

The first step is always at a discount store to buy a few cases of cheap soda pops in a can.

Put them on stumps and fence posts.

Hand them a .22 for starters and watch their eyes light up.

To be fair, you wouldn't carry it into a diner in an open locked position where people "may" have guns, why would you do it where you know everyone has a gun. :)

Gotta be prepared at all times!

This is stupid. Gun ranges have big arse signs all over the place to help newbies figure shite out. What that group did was dangerous, and the staff was right to sternly react. Have to take the environment seriously.

Most of these are probably Chinese people living in the US. Obama passed a law allowing non citizens to buy firearms in this country. All Chinese living in America are members of the Chinese military. They are here on deployment! Never forget that.

I've found ringing steel is always the one that hooks them. Hell, I've been shooting most of my life and it's the most fun for me.

Bingo.

Either have it locked open or have it within a carrying case to where you don’t walk in brandishing it. And read the fricking signs on the way in explaining acceptable behavior at the business.
