I’m not a lawyer, but putting aside the bizarre fact that Jones’ legal team permitted a default judgment against him, it is difficult to understand why the Jones lawsuit was ever allowed.

Clearly. Maybe the dumbest article/opinion piece I’ve read on this matter. Sheesh.

Wow, you figured that out all by yourself?! Seven years of high school sure paid off!

This is the same simplistic mindset people who hate Trump use.
“Sure they abused the system to target him, but I don’t like him so it’s ok!”

Most people generally don't care until it personally affects them. But then it's to late and they cry foul.

This mindset is how America was defeated and taken over by socialism.

Free speech is awesome. It doesn't exempt you from the consequences of your actions. Screw this guy for saying inflammatory stuff about Sandyhook.

I am super pro guns and very conservative. This guy is a POS and deserves to be financially punished.

Last time I looked, the OTers downvoted my pro free speech remarks by a ratio of 5 to 1. They are really taking “Germans” to the next level. Surprised I didn’t get a virtual gas chamber.

On any given day, the OT can be an Insane Asylum, Star Wars Bar, and Idiocracy Family Tree all rolled up in one.

Can't take them seriously.

Aside from hurt feelings, what were the real consequences here?

Your post is inflammatory. You called him a POS. Are you ready for the consequences of your actions? Or is that only for celebrities you don't like? Ready to cough of $42M if you hurt AJ's feelings?

Slippery slope. This is how you tell the principled conservatives from the merely tribalistic ones.

Better yet, no one had to prove anything because Jones chose to not comply with discovery/related orders from the Court.

That's incorrect, unless you know more than Robert Barnes:

Isn't he the one that lost his client over $1M in sanctions for not complying with discovery and related orders from the court?

Maybe you shouldn't listen to him lie that he didn't do that, since he provably did?

He said for years and still does that 9-11 was a hoax. Will he owe the relatives of those who died millions as well?
Did he accuse those relatives of complicity in faking the deaths of their loved ones?

Why is saying inflammatory stuff about Sandy Hook worse than saying inflammatory stuff about anything else?
They’ve allowed inflammatory things to be said by politicians and the media against Trump, the Supreme Court, police, border guards, etc.
Why is Jone’s inflammatory speech worse to you than the others?
Our is it personal, like it seems to be with many in this thread?

Who is they? In order for anything to happen the victim needs to decide to sue the person making defamatory statements. Like the Sandy Hook parents did. Has that happened?

Your post made no references to legalities. All you said was,” screw the guy for saying inflammatory things about Sandy Hook.”
My post addresses yours.
