Reminds me of the guy who called the cops because a black guy was threatening his family with a knife and then cried when they arrived because they wanted to arrest the guy.

I’ve seen people do that in jury duty also.
They avoid jury duty because of fear of perpetrator race due to racial guilt, or the honest ones just don’t want violent criminals seeing who put them in jail.

Feeling sorry for someone isnt empathy. Its emotional manipulation. Empathy is seeing it through their eyes, which does NOT necessarily include reducing the penalty.
Too many people have fricked up emotions to take them seriously and its impossible to feel empathy for fakers.
YOu cant have empathy for people you dont know.

It’s not real empathy by any measure. It’s some weird religious adherence to not casting any aspersion on their political party’s highest priority member. If the perpetrator was white or Asian they’d have no problem calling the police.
