You could argue the OP is doing that but he doesn't seem to be overly serious so I'll relent that point

Nah. He's simple getting a chuckle out of the fact that what no one on the left thought was THAT big of a deal might turn out to be the killer.

I have no idea how you can cover pre-existing conditions without a mandate.

You don’t, that’s not insurance. That’s called “other people pay for your stuff”

Health insurers have pretty much killec the ACA already.

It was doomed after Trump & pals removed the individual mandate fines.

Anything from this point forward is pure politics.

I've said for my entire adult life during discussion of national health care.

"Why is it that we look at the fact that MOST Americans are happy with their own HC......but some cannot get HC...…..and think the solution is to roll them ALL into one basket?...……...We don't do that with anything else in our nation. We don't look at the lack of food for some people and say, "we're going to roll everyone into a giant food stamp program"

Once I realized this reality, I understood that in the U.S. and really ALL nations, national HC is simply a power grab to create a program that makes EVERYONE beholden to govt for something critical to them.

This was actually the same driving force behind Social Security.

Of course, anyone with half of a brain figured that out when Obamacare was passed.

I don't know about all of that

The ruling is based on the removal of the individual mandate from the tax cut bill

So I wouldn't say that nothing has been done about it. That tax cut bill opened the door for this ruling to be made.

Technically, they didn't remove the mandate. They cut the penalty to zero.

Is that going to be a distinction without a difference, or will Roberts say the mandate is technically intact?

Also, the Trump tax cuts expire in 2025. I'm not sure if they all expire or the $0 Ocare penalty is permanent. That might make a difference in the final result.

orange man bad

Yer not jes woofin'. And not in a good way.

And so what if a Texas judge says it's "unconstitutional"? It's the law of the land and none less than the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS detailed why it's wholly constitutional, and wholesome for the well being of America.

I'm not seeing where he had anything to do with this.

He was instrumental in passing the tax cut bill that nixed the mandate.

In the original SCOTUS opinion approving Obamacare, Chief Justice Roberts stated that without it, Obamacare would not be constitutional.
So, getting that law passed was the key that unlocked the lawsuit.

Once the lawsuit was filed, the Department of Justice took the unusual step of abandoning the defense of the law. It's extremely rare for the government to not defend its laws (Obama did it with DOMA).

No doubt none of this would not have happened without Trump.

I agree . I also don’t think we should force someone else to pay the costs for someone else’s pre-existing condition. But Trump wants to protect pre-existing conditions. I think someone who’s dropping their Obamacare plan should get a one time “free pass” to find a policy with no questions asked, but after that , they would be subject to underwriting if they want to switch carriers.

If anyone is still looking for my Christmas present, RBG off the court would be perfect!

Then John Roberts can cuck-out all he wants.

at this point they arent any different, i would prefer roberts to go because he is more of a threat as a pretender of respecting the constitution and the fact the left control him and his decisions through some form of blackmail.

RBG will be dead soon, but roberts has many more years left to overturn the constitution
