get ready for a 45% sales tax. it'll be a consumption tax, no doubt. Otherwise, I guess Jesus is going to fix the potholes and repave the roads and fix the bridges the state condemns

Texas is going to have too, the crime in the School bond system is evident. They’ve been caught jacking up the Property values unconstitutionally, to pay for Stadiums and to cover past bonds. It’s criminal, and people are losing their homes, especially fixed income elderly, to the ever increasing artificial jacked up values…they will have to go to sales taxes IMO, to bridge the difference…

They are slashing the budget for public schools and closing a lot of schools entirely.

But I don’t know how that will help the overcrowding problem. Will probably result in increased truancy and crime

So you believe that society is better off if the focus of education companies are making a profit or securing private donations?

Profit rewards merit. A meritocracy is always better than a government product.

Schools should be privately funded. If they can’t exist without private funds, they don’t deserve to exist.

Free public schools are guaranteed in the constitution. There are numerous flaws in the way the system currently operates; fix it, don’t scrap it.

THE TEXAS CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 7. EDUCATION THE PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS
Sec. 1. SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF SYSTEM OF PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS. A general diffusion of knowledge being essential to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the people, it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools. They dont need to eliminate all, they need to reduce big time if your kids are out of school.

The new schools are ridiculously overspending b/c they have no need to be rational. Even my daughter laughed and couldn't believe a middle school we drove past one day.

I know schools are poorly run and their employees piss me off sometimes. But guaranteed education is the greatest factor in upward mobility that exists and is the backbone of human capital in this Country. I just can’t fathom that anyone would think it’s a good idea that only those with means should get an education.

There is no state property tax in Texas. There are local and school property taxes, but no state tax. The state gets its revenue through sales and use taxes and licensing fees, including automobiles. The State of Texas is fine, but how do you change the county, local and school taxes? They gotta get it from somewhere.

You're right. We should cut funding for school sports and spend it on making school more academically sound.

Let parents if kids who want to follow athletics foot the bill for organized sports and coaches. Let them sell tickets. Same goes for band. If they want to march, they can wait and join the Army. Otherwise, make those parents pay for the privilege. Everybody else gets PE.
