That's incorrect. After one of the Obama elections a republican was elected to the House from New Orleans because the dems didn't turn out. During Obamas terms Republicans flipped 1000s of elected positions across the country. I and most on the board were pumping that number back then.

Ok then. You go ahead and panic about this meaningless Texas senate seat if you want.

You'll be wrong, but you clearly want to fret about it so I won't keep telling you the truth.

You've said no truth. I've refuted your statements. Dems got destroyed locally under Obama. It's a harbinger. Am I fretting? No. I know historically the Rs are in an uphill battle for the House as the executive party.

Whatever you say man. Panic away. I'm not going to keep telling you the truth that this is meaningless and isn't a sign of anything to come. This person will never have a vore for anything significant for this district.

But by all means, believe whatever you want.

"Dems" are a really large and diverse coalition of voters.

Dems have become the party of the most dependable voters, because that population segment - educated, affluent, urban/close subrurban (closer to polling places), and including slightly older people who are more focused on local things and politics in general - has migrated to the Democratic party from the Republican party.

But, Dems also depend on (mostly minority, now) working class voters... and they are undependable voters... they did not show up for the 2020 and 2024 elections. They also can have a bit of class-based resentment for the group above, and not want the same things... especially in terms of economic policy (they want to tax the affluent more, most affluent people would rather not be taxed more...).

So Dems are now the party of both the most reliable voters and the most unreliable voters.

Or the second-most unreliable voters... there are Trump voters who have never voted for anybody else and won't vote for anybody else in the future.

What? This board was saying the opposite 8-10 years ago. Republicans tend to vote more routinely as they are older.

Not in a January special election that had early voting shortened because of cold and ice/snow in multiple places across the Metroplex, and today when polls opened temps probably started at 20 degrees and may have briefly reached 32 mid afternoon before dropping back down.

Comparing total voters in the district for the 2024 November election with a R and D breakdown to the same in this special election would probably help clear up if a trend in the state better than just focusing on today’s numbers.

I am more concerned about Republicans having 17 candidates in an open ballot to replace MTG (22 total but not sure if the 5 are all Dems or not). Even if no one gets to 50% first time around that many candidates could spread out the vote enough to not get a Republican in the runoff or to get an extremely bad one who the rest of the Republicans will not support in the runoff. I also don’t know the district or who’s trending ahead, but having 17 Republicans in an open ballot seems like zero party leadership in the state.

The Biden Invasion is working

We live in a fairly expensive suburb of DFW , walk down the street and it looks like The World's Fair.

Correct.

Dems getting the seat does nothing as far as policy changes in Texas.

But the one thing is does do is provide fuel for their propaganda machine.

Not trying to sound like a douche, but why are you concerning yourself with a random local election on a Saturday night in a state you don’t even live in? How did you even know there was an election anyway?

IMO, this is where TD really shines. It’s also a great way to get insiders and maybe even the candidates themselves to rat themselves out….

No. It flipped as Dems became the educated party.

It started under Obama and under Trump its solidified that this is the new normal

Don’t overlook the nuance.

Females vote Dem. They generally are not attracted to STEM fields. They attend and graduate from college at higher rates than males in female dominated fields like social justice and other degrees with career paths tailor made for barista.

Males vote Rep. They dominate STEM fields (which require higher IQs).

Republicans are demoralized because they have heard nonstop that the midterms will be a blow out loss. November will be grim for the red team.

Dems are all in on midterms at licsl/state/natonal level.

This is where democulters do their election fraud with ease. Low turnout, so they don't need that many 'ballots' added to the dem side to take it.

GOPe has to have an extraordinary turnout to overcome - and even then they can swamp with their 'ballot' harvesting activity.

The GOP is going to get slaughtered in midterms

Dems are highly motivated and republicans are split into two camps, the moderate ones are disgusted with Trump and think he has gone too far with tariffs and ICE, and the true maga supporters are disappointed in how little Trump has done for the America first agenda. Few are motivated to turn out and vote

I expect heavy red seats to flip. Dems will have a big majority in house and shock everyone and take the Senate too
