It's amazing that the same people who complain about the Bible probably also complain about the state of the country.

We remove God from our society and the country goes down the tubes. Substance abuse. Abortion. Suicide is skyrocketing. Cities are falling apart. Gender fluidity. Violence. High School seniors can't read or write, much less know things. People don't want to work. Rapidly increasing mental illness. I could go on.

But teaching the Bible is "predatory."

"At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Embrace it or not, you will kiss the Son!

You are now having the government push one religion in particular when it should be staying out of it entirely
The Founding Fathers vehemently disagree with you. It's amazing people do not know what separation of church and state mean. So many people have been brainwashed

What if those beliefs are what made this country great and are still beneficial? Also, what if those beliefs are true?

OMG that's not what it means. Secularism was never in the ideals of the Founding Fathers. They had no problem with government being laced with Christian ideals

It's one of the most famous works of fiction in history, so I get the appeal of wanting to teach it.
It’s actually the most proven work to stand up to historical and archeological standards. Dig a little bit deeper is my suggestion

Actually…
- there is no firmament
- the earth isn’t a flat disk
- there isn’t a heavenly ocean of water
- there was no Adam and Eve
- snakes (and donkeys) can’t talk
- there was no global flood
- there was no Tower of Babel
- Abraham is a borrowed mythological character
- same with Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses
- there was no exodus of Israelites from Egypt… rather Israelites are simply Canaanites.
- there was no conquest of Canaan by a marauding band of desert wanderers and Joshua is a mythological character who was the son of a fish god Dagon
- Joshua couldn’t have stopped the sun in the sky to extend his killing spree
- Esau and Jacob were originally sun and moon gods
- so were Samson and Delilah
- so were Elijah and Elisha
- sun gods were hairy, moon gods were smooth or bald… these stories were stories of minor deities that the biblical authors liked so they were converted to “historical” people
- there wasn’t even a historical Jesus character until it was invented about 50 or so years after Paul died.

Haha, it's very obvious you have no clue what you are talking about and are partoti g whatever maga tells you.

Your link doesn't say at all what you think it says if you could read. And tsk tsk, resorting to name calling when losing an argument like you don't know what else to do. I just feel sorry for you.

There's no "error." That's stupid "skeptics annotated bible" retardation. The kinds of intentional misunderstandings you just cited are amateurish garbage. It's for scorned youtubers who couldn't make it into academia or got mad at a church member for some childish reason and then have call in shows where they bash Christians with their practiced moronic interpretations. True biblical scholars don't fall for crap like that.

As for your dumb example, read a decent commentary sometime. It will clear up your confusion.

So it’s not just the Old Testament that is mythology and literature, but also the New Testament
Let me guess, you also think that miracles are impossible, that the Jesus story was "stolen" from prior myths, the Jews were originally polytheists, Jesus was married and had kids but the church covered it up and other refuted stupidity

Apparently, you don't know what contemporaneous phenomenal language is.

quote:

there was no Adam and Eve
Prove it

quote:

snakes (and donkeys) can’t talk
Prove that miracles can't happen. All you have to do is prove God doesn't exist. Easy

quote:

there was no global flood
Not everyone believes in a global flood but you can't even prove there wasn't one anyway

quote:

there was no Tower of Babel
Prove it

quote:

Abraham is a borrowed mythological character - same with Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses
Ah geez. Here we go. None of this is true

quote:

there was no exodus of Israelites from Egypt… rather Israelites are simply Canaanites. there was no conquest of Canaan by a marauding band of desert wanderers and Joshua is a mythological character who was the son of a fish god Dagon
I've already corrected you on this multiple times. You are wrong. I asked you questions you never answered

quote:

Esau and Jacob were originally sun and moon gods - so were Samson and Delilah - so were Elijah and Elisha

quote:

these stories were stories of minor deities that the biblical authors liked so they were converted to “historical” people
It's incredible. You have no proof whatsoever. None. It's just an idiotic idea attempting to rewrite history from the lens of biased modern people

quote:

there wasn’t even a historical Jesus character until it was invented about 50 or so years after Paul died
Oh my. I had no idea you were literally a loon. I didn't realize I was conversing with someone who is mentally ill. That explains why you fell for all this nonsense. I'm sorry for you. I hope you are getting help

Well, it kinda depends. It's really only possible in a ruby red state, but an argument could be made that the Bible is the most heavily distributed book in the history of the world.

Good. Maybe with a little exposure to the Word of God these young'uns will be able to understand what gender they are. Hint: It's 1 of 2.

As long as they teach it as a work of fiction I'm ok.

When we studied the Bible in school, it wasn't taught as fact or fiction. It was taught as a book so important to Western literature that if you didn't understand the multitude of references to it, you would be a dumbass.

It was also taught as a vital piece of understanding your own culture.

You claim to not want religion taught, but then you demand the Bible be taught as fiction. In reality, you aren't against religion being taught. You just want YOUR view of religion taught.

Imagine how you dumbasses would react if this were the quran instead of the Bible.

The quran teaches violence, slavery, and pedophilia. The Bible teaches salvation and grace.

Comparing them is retarded.
