Marcan priority is not a fact. It is an idea

What is a consensus most likely situation due to the overwhelming preponderance of evidence among biblical and historical scholars is that the gospel we call Matthew - that writer used the gospel we call Mark as a source.

The one we call “Mark” probably wasn’t even the original. There are undoubtedly lost gospels that didn’t make the cut and weren’t preserved. Nevertheless there are about 50 different gospels of the Lord Jesus Christ that archaeologists have uncovered and translated. Most of them have wildly different ideas about Jesus and theology. Even if you were to grant that the 4 gospels of the Bible were completely historically accurate, and that every ancient gospel of Jesus that contradicts the 4 canonical ones had been discovered, that’s just 4 out of 50. That means early Christians fabricated 46 of the 50 gospels out of their imaginations or lies. That means 92% of Christian gospels of the Lord Jesus Christ were made up and bogus, and it becomes a fact that early Christians liked to make shite up that suited them.

But you can be sure that the 4 particular ones you like out of the 50 are the inerrant word of God… because the Bible tells you so.

quote:

There's no "error." That's stupid "skeptics annotated bible" retardation.

No, you’re the stupid fricking retard. In Mark, when Jairus comes to Jesus, his daughter is sick but not yet dead. In Matthew in the parallel (edited/redacted) version of the story, when Jairus comes to Jesus, his daughter has just died. That’s a fact.

quote:

Let me guess, you also think that miracles are impossible,

Well that’s kind of what makes a miracle a miracle. But an unsubstantiated miracle without undeniable physical evidence of its occurrence is simply a baseless assertion - a myth.

quote:

Jesus story was "stolen" from prior myths

Much of it is unoriginal yes and used earlier sources.

quote:

Jews were originally polytheists

Don’t take my word for it. Just read the Bible. Your own bible admits that every single Israelite or Jewish king - who was by definition the Lord’s Messiah and who was the ultimate political and religious authority - was a filthy polytheist (except for maybe Hezekiah and Josiah). This biblical concept is actually supported by archaeological evidence. Even if we didn’t have the Bible, we would know from other sources and from all the figurines and divine images and inscriptions in all the temples and altars unearthed through archaeology that the people there were practicing Canaanite polytheism all the way to the onset of the Hasmonean period.

quote:

Jesus was married and had kids but the church covered it up

Jesus never existed. At least the Jesus that Paul and the authors of what we call the books of Hebrews, Jude, James, 1 Peter, 1 Clement, Revelation, and the Didache worshipped was a divine archangel who’s coming to earth would be a future event for the resurrection and judgement of the living and the dead. They believed Jesus was killed in heaven, then went to Hades, then was resurrected and highly exalted by God, and only then did he even earn his name “Jesus”. Just read Philippians - Jesus doesn’t earn that name until after his death.

Apparently, you don't know what contemporaneous phenomenal language is.

Apparently you can’t read, or perhaps you don’t understand the historical context. When the psalmist writes to praise the firmament, and to praise the waters above the firmament, it is literal. That’s what they literally believed. Scholars call that “biblical cosmology”.

there was no Adam and Eve
Prove it

No, there is no where to begin, and based on your childishness, you likely aren’t willing to learn and you don’t have an open mind. Did you not attend 9th grade science class? Ever heard of DNA, mitochondria, haplotypes, genes, population groups, natural selection, genetic drift, fossils? Multiple disciplines of science converge and already prove the Adam and Eve myth to be a myth. You will have to do your own learning, if you seriously want to learn. You would learn how the earth is 4.5 billion years old and how somewhat modern human phenotypes occur about 200,000-300,000 year ago in Africa among an assortment of other now-extinct human species and human-like species.

quote:

I've already corrected you on this multiple times. You are wrong. I asked you questions you never answered

You have never once corrected me on anything. If I never answered your questions, it’s because I know my time would be wasted due to you being unable or unwilling to learn. It’s based on your apparent lack of basic education - there’s not even a foundation on which to build.

Interesting take.

It factual take. But it isn’t mine. I just regurgitate scholarly material on here. I read a lot of scholarly material- material written by those with advanced degrees in ancient history, philosophy, and Christian origins.

What’s great is that this kind of stuff is verifiable even for those without the scholarly sources.

For instance, I wrote that Paul wrote that Jesus didn’t earn his name “Jesus” until after his death and resurrection. All one has to do is open up Philippians:

quote:

5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,a 6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. 8And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Paul wrote that precisely because Jesus was killed, God then highly exalted Jesus. In that exalted state, God then gave Jesus the name that is above every name… “Jesus”. If Jesus didn’t earn his name “Jesus” until after his death, then we we know Paul would have thought it blasphemous to suggest Jesus was named Jesus while he was an alive human. Therefore this is an irreconcilable contradiction between Paul and the gospel writers.

there is no firmament - the earth isn’t a flat disk - there isn’t a heavenly ocean of water - there was no Adam and Eve - snakes (and donkeys) can’t talk - there was no global flood - there was no Tower of Babel - Abraham is a borrowed mythological character - same with Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses - there was no exodus of Israelites from Egypt… rather Israelites are simply Canaanites. - there was no conquest of Canaan by a marauding band of desert wanderers and Joshua is a mythological character who was the son of a fish god Dagon - Joshua couldn’t have stopped the sun in the sky to extend his killing spree - Esau and Jacob were originally sun and moon gods - so were Samson and Delilah - so were Elijah and Elisha - sun gods were hairy, moon gods were smooth or bald… these stories were stories of minor deities that the biblical authors liked so they were converted to “historical” people - there wasn’t even a historical Jesus character until it was invented about 50 or so years after Paul died.

Yes, there likely was a historical ziggurat on which the biblical story is based. The biblical story is fiction - we know there was no tower that reached the firmament (and there is and was never a firmament) and we know how languages spread and it wasn’t all from one city in Mesopotamia. But the biblical story is based on a kernel of a real ziggurat in Babylon that the Jews saw when they were exiled there - the unfinished ziggurat to Marduk that was initiated by king Nebulolazzar. Nebuchadnezzar later put the exiled Jews to work helping to finish the ziggurat and it was finally finished by Nebuchadnezzar II.

Christians today don’t see any particular problem with the fact that we have skyscrapers and rocket ships and satellites in orbit and probes flying through space and we have Google Translate and most educated people throughout the world speak English and they still think God got mad at people for building a tall structure out of mud bricks and tar.

You compiled them. There is no single link. And whether it’s Reddit or some other quirky online forum, it’s all made up stuff that you take on FAITH so you can live a life without God.

To say Jesus wasn’t a historical figure, that alone puts you at odds with the VAST majority (near unanimous) of scholars, including atheists.

So there’s no point in going further with you until you realize how much faith is involved in your side to believe what you wrote
