Term limits wouldn’t fix the problem we are trying to cure, which is public servants enriching themselves.

Resolve the issue of public servants making money while in office and then you won’t have to worry about term limits.

Conveniently, they had no issue officially setting term limits for presidents.

Americans had no idea they were continuing to reelect a polio cripple. No Kings

But how does your Congressman forbid his shiftless brother-in-law from taking a no-show board position at some corporation? You really can't stop the families from enriching themselves, nominally over the objection of the office holder. Term limits would at least prevent them from making a lifelong career of it.

Be careful what you wish for.

A 6 year lame duck Senator can cause a lot of problems.

We need a smarter electorate.

Term limits and full financial disclosure for EVERY elected office. Local, state and federal, including judges.

Are there any young one's ready to serve in the Senate? If so, step up and run and win. Got to have your head screwed on for this really early. Like in your late 20s. Anybody?

Lindsay Graham was elected to congress in 1994 or 32 years ago. He was 35 at the time so he must have had his head screwed on straight in his late 20s.

They do this already for instance with anti kickback laws in the medical industry. The only bewildering part is why legislators can make laws for doctors and providers but they themselves are not bound by similar codified ethical limits.

No it would just hasten the fraud and increase its volume.

The only thing it would cost them is voting power. Which, don't get me wrong, is a substantial loss.
But in the area of wealth? How many of these special interests could some of these people rack up jobs with after their term expires?
I'm willing to bet AOC could rack up at least 20 multi-million dollar per year "advisory" contracts, to sell off her votes while in office. Shed end up being a billionaire before age 50.

Given the choice, I’d rather see a mandatory retirement age than term limits. If you get elected at 30 and the people want you to serve 6 terms, that’s fine, but you cannot run after your 67th birthday. For a 6 year term, that’s 73.

I’m for age limits. Most companies start succession plans when a CEO is getting into the early 60s. I would be totally fine with 60 as a cutoff for service in Congress or the Presidency.

These are high stress, complicated, evolving roles. We should have people are the peak of their mental abilities in these positions.

Make the House a four year term instead of two. Put the Senate choice back in the hands of the state legislatures. Make the presidency one six year term.

Term Limits is very bipartisan across the entire voter base.

Is not bipartisan with those that would actually have to make it happen. How are you going to get an 80 year old Senator (looking at you Grassley) to vote for term limits or preferably age limits? I'm not sure you could ever get a cohesion amongst the people to do an initiative and referendum. You might could at an individual state level but good luck on national.

Maybe after Trump’s 3rd and/or 4th term we can revisit this topic.

I’m being facetious, obviously.

But seriously

It’s not bipartisan at all.

We have both parties and independents overwhelmingly supporting The SAVE America Act and can’t get it done.

Term limits require either a constitutional amendment or constitutional convention.

That will never happen.

We have term limits now. They are called elections.

That type of "term limits" never work. Unfortunately, there are too many uninformed voters who (1) don't research the issues; (2) know what the incumbents are doing or not doing; and (3) just vote for a familiar name. We need term and age limits!!

Sounds like you want a short cut to the hard work of educating the electorate.
