Nor is it Jewish kids in NYC, Chicago, etc.

Nor is it Far Easterners in San Fran, Los Angeles, etc.

Nor is it Hispanic kids in Miami, Houston, etc.

Take the library, he said.

Yes, if these yutes only had a library to hang out at.

Smfh. These “experts” are only expert at perpetually making excuses for uncivil behavior.

If society finally ever gets fed up and demands that people simply be held accountable, it will clean this bullshite up in the blink of an eye compared to what any number of libraries would ever accomplish.

Parents or lack of parents actually raising their children and teaching them right from wrong is the reason for "teens gone wild".

White kids went through COVID the same as black kids, but you only see the black teens rioting. Hmmm….how is that possible if COVID is to blame?

"Disproportionate Impact"

This has to be the explanation, given the emphasis on education found in the community.

Lack of positive role models and parenting.

No consequences for breaking the law.

A lot more but those 2 are a good start.

We need more community spaces with robust programs for these teens. C’mon America, we can do this.

There used to be more of what experts call “third spaces” — not home or school — where kids could socialize freely.

They’re called parks. They can socialize all they want there and not bother other ppl. But bothering other ppl is what they want.

Many of today’s teenagers went into lockdowns during middle school, when kids are supposed to be learning how to socialize and interact with the world around them, Abrams said.

OK. I'll play along with their excuses....
Many people pointed out the future problems that would result from school and work routines being totally screwed up. Of course we were told: Put on your GD mask and keep 6-feet of separation at the checkout area, dumbarse! And make sure to go to Wal-Mark at these reduced hours when COVID is less threatening.

“That’s what these teen takeovers really represent to me,” Abrams said. “They’re not random violence. It’s not out-of-control youth.” “More often than not, it is a desperate need for connection,” he said.

It’s 100% random chaos and violence and there’s no accountability so why should they stop?

I grew up across the street from a playground (with a gym and fields for sports).

In high school or maybe his freshman year of college my brother and some of his friends took a section of bleachers and put them in our backyard and maybe they set some toilet paper on fire at the playground? Hard to remember the details all these years later. Nothing burned down or anything. The fire department wasn’t called that I can recall. The police department was ultimately called. It doesn’t take the CIA to spot a section of bleachers in a backyard across the street from the scene of a crime.

My family is very politically connected in that parish so my brother didn’t get in any real trouble. I think my mom was pretty embarrassed though.

These were white boys who graduated from private school in the early 2000s.

Yeah, exactly no-one in this thread has asserted that only kids of a particular color can raise hell/get in trouble.

It was a small scale teen takeover. Teenagers trespassed, vandalized property and stole things.

My point was not that the events are identical. Teenage disorder has always existed. People discuss and respond to it differently depending on who is causing the chaos. Sometimes it’s just boys being boys, other times it’s a social pathology.
