Bob Good, the leader of the House Freedom Caucus, with a 100% Conservative voting record (that's more than Thomas Massie and Rand Paul), looks like he is being primaried by about 250 votes. They are still counting mail in ballots and it may trigger a recount, but he is currently behind.

Mcguire is a substantially more moderate candidate. Kevin McCarthy pumped a ton of money into his campaign, and Donald Trump has actively endorsed him over Good because Good supported his close friend Desantis in the primary.

quote:

At the same time, Good has made enemies in his party’s establishment wing as a member of the hard-right Freedom Caucus. Good played a key role in ousting Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) from the House speakership. His reputation as an unyielding conservative — one willing to blow up bipartisan deals on foreign aid, for instance, or risk government shutdowns to make a point on federal spending — allowed him to assume leadership of the group, which even some fellow GOP conservatives consider obstructionist and damaging to the party’s reputation.

McCarthy allies have bankrolled a blitz of TV ads attacking Good and boosting McGuire. So have moderate Republican groups such as the Defending Main Street super PAC that do not ordinarily gravitate toward flamboyant MAGA cheerleaders like McGuire, who has had enormous Trump flags fluttering from the back of his Ford pickup since 2016.

Congrats. The party moves inexorably left. An ACTUAL America First guy gets ousted.

I anxiously await the shooting of the messenger instead of any sort of self reflection whatsoever.

He pissed off both McCarthy and Trump. He screwed up. By the way, not all republicans share your priorities. And they never will.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Correct. RINO's do not care for conservatives. Sycophants do not care for anyone other than who they are told to support.

He pissed off Trump, by endorsing DeSantis, so Trump works to get a RINO in place of an actual conservative.

I look forward to the "RINO's are undermining Trump" posts in the future. This board buries its head in the sand and then is shocked when the reality of who Trump surrounds himself with is revealed.

Yep. I don't think Trump cares though. He will get elected and not do shite - again.

I'm in Louisiana, so my vote doesn't matter, so I'll probably vote 3rd party.

First we have to fill the swamp, fertilize it and then "expose" it. It's all part of Trump's 120 year plan to drain the swamp.

Has anyone ever said otherwise?

He's actively against the most conservative people in congress.

Does that mean he owns this? If you piss someone off you're responsible for the consequences?

That knife cuts both ways.

In the meantime, Democrats laugh and continue to destroy the country - with the help of those that don't share those priorities.

We all know what we're getting with Trump. He'll get distracted by shiny things (someone appealing to his vanity or taking him on a joyride by insulting him) and it's just part of the package.

It's not going to change and Trump's most loyal worshippers aren't going to engage in meaningful self-reflection on it. Even if the loss of Bob Good meant the loss of a deciding vote on a huge conservative policy item, they still won't care.

Just vote for Trump, ignore their absurd personality allegiance and get on with it
