In case people think we won't continue to pay for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars once we pull out.

So less than 500 yesterday. Great.

They’ve now got a week to get around 10,000+ people out of Afghanistan. If they keep up this pace they’ll get out a grand total of 7,788 Americans.

They can take their time and get out however many they can. The ones that don't make it didn't want it bad enough and we're told it's ok to leave them.

Those numbers also include other foreigners from western countries who boarded our flights so the actual number of Americans who were able to get out so far is far far below 7,788 number.

I honestly don’t know what’s the number of American citizens/Afghan-American dual nationals that want out. I don’t assume that all dual nationals will want out.

I have 0 faith in the VA or the government to care for our vets. my dad is one, and the people he has to interact with really pisses me off. he has late stage dementia, and the patient advocates he is sent to will accept what he says at face value and not follow-up with my mom who is caring for him.

he had tests run, and the wording in the report they mailed him referenced cancer. of course they reached out to the VA in Mobile, and they said the soonest they could get him in to discuss the findings was 2 months - despite it referencing Cancer - and the advocate dismissed it as serious.

it ended up not being Cancer, but they could have cared less - and this was a couple years ago - way before Covid.

I really feel for the folks that served in Afghanistan - they essentially accomplished nothing, suffered irreparable harm to their health and mental wellbeing, a lot gave the ultimate sacrifice - for nothing.

Doesn’t AMCIT mean American Citizens? I may be wrong here, but that’s what I thought it meant.

Adam Kirby Pentagon Press secretary:
"We have had several hundred Americans make it to the gate for safe departure"

Reporter: "Did the government assist in the safe passage TO to airport"
Adam Kirby: "No comment"

All dual nationals probably don't want out but I am pretty sure most or very close to all do. If you are a dual American/Afghan citizen I am certain that is a death sentence once the Talib find you.

They don't want to stay because they will be murdered if they stay. Lucky for a number of US citizens they were able to meet up with citizens from other countries whose special forces rescued them and our citizens were also rescued because they were with British, German, Ukraine, French, Belgium, Italian, Indian, etc. citizens.

The problem is that we had Americans living throughout Afghanistan. We haven't heard a whisper about those American citizens who are in Herat, Jalabad, Kandahar, Mazar-e Sharif, Laskkar Gah, etc. which is very concerning considering the distance they are from Kabul.

Taliban no longer allowing Afghans to go to Kabul airport

Don't forget that yesterday our own State Department said Afghan SIVs would no longer be allowed into the airport. Also, don't forget that we are working with the Taliban to move (or not move) those people.

Its official Biden ignores pleas from G7 and tells them the US will be out of Afghanistan come hell or highwater by August 31st because the Taliban refused to extend their deadline.

Daily Mail

This means the UK forces will now start their evacuation plans and have all of their troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the day.

He says it is the military's reccomendation, what he doesn't say it is the Taliban military recommendation.

Our military is willing to stay until the job is done.

All I will say in this thread about the VA is that the amount of variance in care from facility to facility is unfathomable. Even within the same state as you, I can assure you, it matters greatly which facility you have to deal with.

I'm guessing there are folks with dual citizenship who may not want to leave there relatives behind?...

Either way, Biden's handlers should be giving numbers of American nationals evacuated so far.

Another guess: we're not getting this because some are being held hostage already - perhaps as insurance or extortion...

Facility? It can depend on the person.

That tells us two things:

1. He in no way whatsoever wants to send anymore troops in, which would be required to secure that airport past the deadline.

2. He really is willing to allow the Taliban, still a terrorist organization, to dictate who lives and who dies.

But don't worry, folks, this was the plan all along.
