Question for any former soldier out there: When someone goes to boot camp, are they totally beat down mentally and psychologically so that they do anything they are told to do without questioning the order?

I could see good soldiers who would rebel against these crap orders to help people out and overthrow these crap high military leaders and the SecDef and higher POS.

Unfortunately that would get you court martialed and Dishonorably Discharged in all likelihood.

It’s not really like that. It’s not that they turn you into a automaton. From day 1 forward, chain of command is perpetually stressed. Following orders is just a way of life. I’ve said this before but I was a paratrooper and you just trust your leadership and follow orders. I was in a long time ago so that may have some bearing on all this. The “team” survives because it works together. It only works together if everyone is following orders.

I hate to think this, but I’m thinking next Tuesday when we likely leave they’re going to blame the Americans over there for that and that they don’t WANT to come home.

Yep. They’re going to leave US citizens over there…lie about the numbers or cover it up and act like they didn’t know about them. Or just say these people didn’t want to leave. We are definitely going to hear “we did everything we could do to get every American out.”The question needs to be asked right now how many US citizens don’t want to leave right now and what proof they have that they want to actually stay.

The moment he says that, we’re going to see the most hellacious reply video in YouTube history.

@DefenceHQ (Ministry of Defence UK)

Around 60% of the people we've evacuated from Kabul in the last 10 days are Afghans eligible to move to the UK under the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy. The Armed Forces have worked incredibly hard to evacuate nearly 4,000 former interpreters, staff and their families. LINK

Thank you to both of you for responding.

Too fricking bad that they have a CiC that is so pathetic and a pathological liar.

Edit to add: Just because that is the way it is done no one stands up to say "Sir, I respectfully request not to have to leave these American citizens; men, women, and children to be raped, turned into sex slaves and be murdered."

Would that result in court martial and or dishonorable discharge? Good thing I wasn't in the military.

I am sure these Americans have loved ones here that they keep informed so they will know when they quit responding.

I have to think that they will be taking the pitchforks and tar and feathers to our WH.

9/11 is going to be nuts this year. Keep in mind it’s the 20th Anniversary and it’s on a Saturday which means most people aren’t working. You think January 6th was bad, wait until millions of people have thousands of loved ones in the hands of the Taliban. Then think of the veterans who are probably pissed the most off about this. That’s going to get nasty.

Whatever the response is, it will pale in comparison to what this President* deserves.

This one isn't exactly fair. It seems to have been little more than a poor choice of words. Clarissa Ward earned my respect as a journalist/correspondent last week.

I agree. Have brought this up several times.

The Boston Tea Party on 'roids. This time against our own country.

Time to take out the trash in DC.

BOCA RATON, Florida — Senior U.S. military officials in Afghanistan say U.S. Special Operations retrieved 16 American citizens from outside the Kabul airport early Monday morning.

The military officials would not detail where in Afghanistan the Americans were rescued from but they said it was about two hours outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport. The Americans were brought back to Kabul for evacuation processing.

The officials, who commented only on condition of anonymity to discuss military operations, said the rescue missions that go beyond the walls of the Kabul airport require the approval of a four-star officer and are handled on a case-by-case basis.

One of the stories that has gotten the attention of alot of people who otherwise wouldn't be paying attention to the Kabul evacuation is that of Pen Farthing. He's the founder and head of an animal charity in Kabul that, evidently, has done alot of good work for years.

I haven't mentioned it here, because their efforts to evac him and his/the charity's animals really pale in comparison to the human aspects we're watching.

However, his cause has gained international support and is currently the source of some political infighting in the UK.

@PenFarthing if anyone is interested in looking into it more.
