DId I head that right?????

I feel 100% comfortable with this group in charge now. Our military budget now deserves to be cut by 2/3s if we can't fricking extract people out.

Ask these fools about giving up Bagram

------------

Can someone explain this to me how it'd help? I truly don't get the full scope .. would it be more of a staging/organizing area? Is it near the Kabul airport?

Trying to fully understand.

Are there tens of thousands of US citizens trapped in Afghanistan and are we having a sluggishly slow pace to remove them when we only have 13 days? It the answer is yes, then that is not overstating things.

And while getting our people out at all costs needs to be priority one, the real damage in all of this, assuming no American casualties, is that our allies will never trust us again.

Forget even contemplating the clear balance of power shift in the Middle East now, our own national security took a severe and likely irreparable blow. The cost of this exercise in lunacy will haunt this country for decades.

This is your typical Democrat administration letting State dictate how to handle a wartime event. This shite is old hat, we've all seen it scores of times.

At this point, I'm not sure there is a significant difference the brass and State when it comes to making decisions on political whim and optic considerations.

This reporter actually coming at Austin calling him out about securing the airfield.

She keeps saying they can't get there.

Austin: I don't have the capability.

Reporter: So you're saying this all depends on diplomacy with taliban.

Austin: *silence*

Milley steps in

I had to check twice to make sure this wasn't an old press conference under Trump.

It would give us another secure, more easily defensible airport with a greater capability of moving more people. It would allow for a separation of civilian vs diplomatic evac.

Instead, we are solely reliant upon a poorly defended and inadequate Kabul airport with only two (maybe) runways with multiple nations and militaries attempting to use it.

That was Helene Cooper from the New York Times. After a quick Google search.

Lloyd melted and needed to be bailed out.

It is a watershed moment in how our press/media has conducted itself for the past decade or longer.
