From what I have read and seen the biggest thing is that Bagram would be easier for people to get to and easier to keep secure. Also, if need be people could be rescued from roofs rather just on the tarmac basically.

Who was the commander on the ground at Baghram who said we needed to leave under the dark at night without telling anyone. I want to hear from that military commander now to see if this is true or false

It isn't very far from Kabul, if I remember correctly. It isn't walking distance, but it isn't across the country, either.
It isn't just the logistics of moving people. It is everything else a secure US Airbase would offer, as stated above. We likely wouldn't be in this scenario if Bagram were still up and running, even with a skeleton crew.
