He is the type of guy you don't notice but he is very engaging but you never know if his smile is pleasant or one that says I'm going to kill you. Sorry ihome if you read this but you do scare the crap out of me when you do your serious smile.

He used to own and operate an international security firm. After some things went bad in the Congo he sold it to a friend of his. He's still close to the friend, and they have people stuck in Kabul. They are a team running security for a group of women doing humanitarian work. They're in a safe house, but with no easy/safe way to the airport. He's using his connections to help get them out.
